Pros: Full of features, sensitive yet relatively immune to false alarms
Cons: inability to view/edit speed trap/red light/speedcam database

The 9500ix combines all of the latest RD features. Most notable is its use of GPS to autolearn potential false alarms, resulting in a quieter ride on successive commutes. It has many features and offers many user-customizable options. Detection range appears to be excellent, both by personal experience and full-scale comparative reviews by others. Blue LED display is attractive, voice alerts are helpful, built-in speed trap, red light and speed camera database potentially useful (haven't been in an area where I could really test this out). It would be really useful to be able to view and edit this database directly.

Pros:
Cons:

I have been in the market for a RD and my research had narrowed down to the Bel STi and the Escort 9500ix. One knock I read is the price but the features are what you pay for. For the $499.00 price tag, you have to pay more for the "subscription" to get downloads and have to pay for an additional battery cable to charge unit to download from your PC. One blogger who owned it thought this was price gouging the consumer. Thoughts anyone who is downloading update info?

Pros: Blue LED display/full-dark feature, AutoLearn feature, Mark
Cons: GPS goes on & off with weather,

OK, after two months of use and one true "Save", I too love this unit - and rely on it! Documentation says 1/3 mile for speed traps - I marked it about 1/10 on a clear view of a LEO who pulled over the guy speeding past me on a straight stretch of highway. Me or the van right in front of me both going 60 (no rabbits for me) on a 55mph straight stretch of highway got "shot" with radar I guess, because all of sudden the RD goes off, I freaked out a bit and then saw the LEO way back on a hill as we both passed. So, not 100% protected yet. Otherwise, quiet and the AutoLearn feature does read "stored" after three false "X" or "K" alerts - nice. The voice alert is pleasant and the audio ramp up, then silence (with the smart cord and signal display still flashing, does make this an intelligent RD for sure. At night, the full-dark is added security and a bit of stealth. Since I have not seen the ix offered anywhere but the Escort website, I assume it is still not being distributed. Otherwise, I am pleased with the purchase and you do get what you pay for it seems.
