Default why the valentine one radar

okay, i pretty much have always been an escort guy, i am looking for a new rd, i pretty was only thinking about the blue 9500i but different things have made me think about the v1.... i guess wat i want to know is most common things about the v1 from its users....and wat makes it better than the 9500i

Default ok

I will try and sum it up for you. The V1 is quite sensitive, sometimes too sensitive for some, just right for others. The V1 has the best laser detection of all rd's but other rd's do have great laser detection. The arrows showing you radar/laser from the front/side to side/and to the rear is quite unique and VR calls it "situational awareness". The x and k band detection is very good along w/ ka band but in some situations, ka band stays tied w/ the Bel STi, others it falls ahead, and still others it falls behind, you just never know what you are going to witness. The inventor of the V1 was the first person to help invent the original Escort (which is pretty cool). I like the fact the V1 has so many options in the programming menu that you have to read up on them before you decide to make any changes so you don't change the wrong thing.

Well compared to the 9500i which I had a 30 day experience with before returning is this. Ramp up was the biggest issue for me. The 9500i went 1,1,2,3,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9 and then going down 8,8,8,4,3,1, 0. Now as far as detecting radar with the GPS OFF was alright. It actually detected K band and KA around corners and bends better then my RX65 did.

I think more work needs to be done before I can deem it a top RD. Speed display was accurate, buttons lit up nice and bright at night, display clear and visible. Only think else I would say would be when you marked a camera it alerted a mile away going over 50 MPH I believe which is too long of a warning personally. The half mile was ok but still a little long. I like Navalerts red light warning of 200 km (or cm???) not sure but it was short and effective for me.

The V1 has a nice ramp up most of the time. I also have an X50 blue and it is just as good if not better then my V1 in the ramp up category. I really would be happy with any RD but the one thing the V1 has that no other RD has is the arrows which are very helpful to me, but I would not make it a deciding factor simply because as long as you get the early enough you really do not need to know the direction just that it is still there which is where the rear antenna comes in.

I hope this helps you a little bit in comparison. I have a video of the 9500i, RX65, and V1 against a K band source just gotta find it. Let me know if you would be interested in viewing them.

TIP #1:

Remember that a false radar alert is one in which an RD alerts to radar when in reality there is no radar source. An alert that is triggered by a source other then by a LEO or officer is called a non-threat radar alert. Keep Learning!

Most of the complaints with the V1 come from people who think it "falses" too much. The fact of the matter is, that it is NOT "false alerts" they are hearing, but are REAL radar the V1 is picking up. That includes door openers and building alarm systems. This is part of "situational awareness" and I would certainly rather be alerted to a radar signal from a door opener, than have my detector NOT pick them up...as well as not pick up police radars on the same band. I have turned off X band detection because I know there are no police using X-band in my area. If I were to go on a trip out of state, I would turn it back on. You just never know when some podunk town cop may still have X-band
I do not use my radar detector to speed with. I don't speed
I just like to know where the speed traps ARE. Bottom line...the V1 and every other radar detector are NOT POLICE DETECTORS. Once you understand that, you will be able to appreciate the V1 and it's amazing abilities.

X2.

They are absolutely Real radar that can be the same frequency as a LEO's, however I still consider them falses. You won’t ever get a ticket from door openers and building alarm systems. But that may be because I own a 9500I and it can tell the difference between a false and a LEO,s radar in the right circumstances.

I also believe the V1 can be programmed to be pretty quiet, so it’s not as chatty as most people think.

You are correct, you won't get a ticket from door openers or alarms. But a TRUE "false alert" would be the radar going off without a radar source being present anywhere. I don't want my detector to be "real quiet". Especially if it's in an area where BOTH door openers AND police are present. If you are bothered by radar alerts, just turn the detector OFF. Or even cheaper, don't buy a radar detector at all. The detection of door openers and alarms is just part of the V1 situational awareness. The V1 is a detector for a thinking/aware driver. If people can't accept detections of real radar, then they might as well buy a plastic tupperware box and put it on their dashboard.
