Exclamation Instant on X banded

I just recently got instant on x banded yesterday. I am currently making a video out of the hit. Not much on video but i got some of the hit on video. It is weird seeing instant on x band in a city that catter's to k,ka, and LASER! Why use x band? I mean yes there are alot of door sensors on that end of town that are x, and he could just be thinking well i'll use it to conceal myself, talk about sneaky! Not to mention he was in a completely black ghost car and it was NIGHT TIME!

X-band in West Branch michigan coming soon!

X band has really low range and a lot of scatter. Typically used by "low rent" PDs. But there are plenty of refurbed models for sale. I should know, I've got one. $75 K55 stationary X band gun. But I usually don't get a fix on it until 1000 ft maybe.

Many old X band radar guns have much better range than 1500 feet.

Its evening this Christmas day. I am down in Rome, GA, visiting my father. After dinner I had to return a couple of movies to Blockbuster and run to Walgreens to pick up some light bulbs. The store had a deal on a four pack of 100 watt fluorescent light bulbs for just $9.99! Anyway, while driving to Walgreens after returning the movies, my 9500i started very weakly alerting to a moving mode X band radar system! I spotted the approaching city patrol car a few hundred feet ahead of me. The alert on my 9500i never reached more than 3 out of 10, and the alert immediately disappeared as I passed the patrol car. This occurred in an area of no known false alert sources.

I think that my 9500i was detecting an extremely weak auxilliary X band transmitter for measuring the patrol car's speed since I am sure that any signal from his target vehicle speed measuring transmitter would have been much stronger. I know that these patrol car speed measuring transmitters on K band radar systems are mounted underneath the patrol car. Hmm...I am seriously wondering if there is a new X band radar system out from one of the manufacturers. Several months ago I could swear that I read a brief blurb somewhere on the net about such a system. I thought that I read some sort of announcement about a new low power X band system on one of the manufacturer web sites. I can't find any mention of it now though. Maybe I need to try the internet archive site and see if the announcement page got indexed.

I did some searching. The current MPH Python II moving radar gun product is available in X, K and Ka bands. Yes, X band! I guess this is what my 9500i was alerting to on Christmas day while I was in Rome, GA.

With X band popping up more often, having the ability to essentially turn off X band according to GPS area is becoming more useful. My town only uses KA so i lock out all the X band falses, but because X band isn’t turned off im safe when i go on trips where X may be used by less wealthy PD's.

I had 1 X band save this Christmas. I'm glad I didn’t turn off X band.
