Default Valentine One too hot out in the sun?

Happen to be out traveling, and notice the V1 sure gets hot in the sun. Thinking about running it until it gets hot, then grabbing one of my other rd's (to let the poor V1 cool down).

Default Cant say I've experienced that

I run the V1 on my big truck and I have one of them sun visors that come off the front cab so my V1 stay's pretty much in the shade all the time.

If you have yours mounted high and on the windshield, you could "visor" mount it or try to mount it back a little from the windshield to keep it out of direct sunlight.

Black case, direct sun,, she's gonna be pretty warm. If no way to place it better to be out of direct light... might have to take it down each time (which would be a pain).

Its better putting right next to the RVM so that it would not get more direct sunlight than putting it under the RVM or middle of the windshield where you see most of the sunlight hit it.

a friend of mine took his V1 and bench tested it discovering the case temperature rose to over 100 degrees. This was in an air conditioned house! The V1 runs hot even in the shade. I can't imagine the sun would be good for the unit but V1 techs say it is designed for this environment so it has no effect on performance.

Using vettemods visor mount in C6 vert. So far I haven't noticed the V1 getting hot. Guess I'll find out out in 5 or 6 months. In the San Diego summertime everything is hot!!!

Its a piece of electronic equipment. It can handle the heat.

Hell... your average computer regularly handles 50-60*C or 120-140 Degrees F. Now of course, alot of electronics can handle higher. Usually the shutoff feature on a number of computers is 75*C or 150*F, which is still below the physical limits of the chip.

So putting the V1 in the sun? Wouldn't really worry about it. The V1 isn't nearly as fragile as your average computer processor anyways, not nearly the same amount of transistors.

Not much to add here, but I know for a fact that my Mac will sometimes run at 165 F with no problems whatsoever. As you said, the V1 can probably handle the heat. I haven't had any error messages on it yet.
