Default Taking stealth to a whole new level (must see)

Another user posted this on rd.net and I thought I would share the love over here. This is taking stealth to a whole new level, but I am sure it hinders both radar and laser sensitivity. The integration into the CarPC unit is simply amazing.

Sit back and enjoy!

I agree, it's a very, very nice setup - both the integration as well as the stealth installations are all extremely nicely done, befitting a professional outfit as the vehicle owner mentioned.

The thread dates back to 2006, and as-such, I do believe that it is among the first, if not truly the first, use of The Professor's StealthOne emulation software in a CarPC.

I've brought up this idea to V1 users on my BL/BP-Chassis Subaru Legacy GT comunity, which is now *heavily* involved in CarPCs, but no-one seems interested, so far, and I honestly have no idea why. I truly think that for anyone running a CarPC, the emulation software, plus perhaps the integration of the Cheetah ActiveStealth system, would be an awesome way to go for truly customized countermeasures.

The rear deck, concealed, installation of the V1 is very similar to another work (on yet another BMW) that dates from that period, so I am not sure who was first in terms of pioneering that particular idea.....

Lucozade17, you're my kind of guy - you like to dig up the historical stuff for research/ideas.

I honestly forget when you came-aboard this scene, so I don't know if you saw this one or not, but it's a cool one, and I think you'll enjoy the write-up.

Search for the authorname "puzzled" on the RD.net Forums. You should bring up his old post in the V1 subForum, "V1 display installed in my gauge cluster," which should be an enjoyable read for you.

I like it very discreet.... the Valentine One Radar in the rear under the cover...do you just put the cover over it when parking? and take the cover off when driving so it doesnt obstruct the view?

Negative.

The cover sits over the detector at all times.

Radar reception is likely somewhat decreased due to the bodyshell of the vehicle, but should otherwise "pass through" the plastic.

Laser alerts, from the plastic "covered" areas, will be nearly nullified, and this is where a remote-mounted laser sensor/jammer would be advantageous.

You also loose the arrows unless you have a concealed display

The arrows are included in the emulation software so you still have them without a concealed display!

But really, IMO, there's no point in having such a stealth set-up if it decreases your performance. You bought the V1 for its great performance, why hinder that for the extra stealthyness?

^ The problem is that in some areas, such a concealed setup is required, due to local laws (and much "smarter," if you will, enforcement)......

It's indeed just as you said, always a compromise of some sort.....
