Default Jeeez... Not much notice on the Ka band today

In the usual speed trap zone - I5 by exit 143-142... it's revenue heaven for the city... anyways I saw the cop up ahead with a customer but I was surprised that almost as I passed him the V1 went off on Ka Band... I guess Ka is pretty hard to pick up when u are behind the source or off axis to it. I got a good mile of reading until I had to exit. There are 3 wsp cars all with clients only the first one had Ka turned on...

I gotta get a less shaky mount for my video cam..

My 9500I gets better range than that, you should switch

Actually it seems that his gun was facing the same direction you were going. That’s why you got such short KA range towards the LEO and so long going away.
he might of been shooting people in the ass or put his gun on the dash and left it on.

Yes that is true. An hour ago, I got such a short K Band alert like 2 dots only 50 yds because he was in the same direction as me. But as I past him, it started going full blast for a minute or 1/2 a mile on a hilly and a curvy lane.

Now this is kindof odd...

When I was heading to the store tonight I noticed my V1 barely picked up a "k" band driving towards the store.... but it went almost full blast while driving away... picked it up about 50' (forward arrow... leds about halfway up) but then 100+' while going away... (rear arrow and all leds lit up)

I would think I would get the same signal going to a radar source and going away... I wonder if there is an issue with the forward radar detector... it would make sense as I didnt pick up that Ka Band untill I passed the cop in the video... there should (I am assuming) at least some radar bounce from the cars in front...

not bad pickup to me...i assure you that it didnt have a radar on in that first car, you got the front (2nd) car and was pretty good range considering the radar antenna was pointing away from you.

You had alot of blocking traffic too!

Wouldnt complain with that

Try turning off the rear antenna to se if you get any detection at all.

Ohhhhh shoot.... according to the tech report on the V1 site..

... The "terrible" cars cut radar detector range by 95 percent. Even V1 can't protect you through those windshields. /snip

Here's a list of "terrible" cars:
• Audi A8 with optional "insulated glass" (look for a bronze tint)...
......
angry

Of course thats what I have A8L

Holy crap - that's right, you've got the athermic windshield!!!!! angry

First, see if you can do the polarized sunglasses trick. See if you can't find some portion of your front glass which may not be treated. This may give your V1 at least its "forward vision" back.

You'll then need to see if any other of your greenhouse glasses are treated in this manner.

If you can't achieve good resolution this way, you've got two remaining choices:

(1) replace windshield (and other affected greenhouse glass) with non-athermic glass

-or-

(2) go with a remote-mounted detector
