Default Splice a wire for V1 install to mirror?

Who own here has installed their V1 to the power source of their mirror. I got the part in today going to install it for the valentine one, was just curious if there was that much to it with splicing wires, etc.

Depends on what you are driving, in terms of complexity. However, my personal pref is to use the cig lighter wiring. That is presuming it's ignition on powered and not constant on, so again depends on the vehicle to some extent.

Actually, IMHO the best option is to run a dedicated fuse from your panel. Unless you have every option installed on your car, chances are there will be at least one ignition controlled fuse available in the box.

And yet another good option is to use Cheetah's "PowerSense" node and just splice the wires off that thing for ground and power. I'm actually considering trying that the next time I want to add an accessory to my car. IMHO it's a way cool product.

I know that DMI-sport.com is selling them a-la-carte (is it ok to mention them in this post???... I know they are a rr.net sponsor).... Anyway, point is that it's available. It's not like you have to be a Cheetah dealer or something to get them. I have seen them recently on DMI's website. I don't recall the price, but neat idea.

The PowerSense node is designed for Cheetah's products, but it has obvious applications with any other electronic gizmo that you want to hardwire and have powered only when the ignition is on so that you don't drain your battery.
