It means that the KA alert has been deemed "J"unk by the V1. This is usually caused from Cobras or other detectors. Sometimes it can be a real police radar that gets junked possibly from a real source and another cobra source being in the same area, but for the most part it is safe to assume cobras are near you.

What version do you have?

Newer versions (3.851 and up) are supposed to be better at not Junking real alerts whereas older versions may. It just depends I guess on the circumstance and the surroundings.

TIP #1:

Remember that a false radar alert is one in which an RD alerts to radar when in reality there is no radar source. An alert that is triggered by a source other then by a LEO or officer is called a non-threat radar alert. Keep Learning!

Current Active Devices

#1) V1 (3.858) - KA & LASER ON (X & K OFF)

#2) Navalert (ALWAYS ON NOW)

#3) Tom Tom Go 910 GPS ( USED FOR PLAYING IPOD MUSIC AND SEEING SPEED)

#4) Bushnell Speedster II K Band Radar Gun ( FOR RANDOM USE)

Current Inactive Devices

#1) Beltronics Professional Series RX65 (6.2)

I had the 3.7 i believe...it is supposed to come back today with the newest upgrade..so cant wait to try it out... before this upgrade I got "J" all the time at least 1 every 3 days or so....

They should make a state law to ban Cobra radar detectors

J's also are linked to you POP in the V-1, Which POP in itself causes alot of false KA--hence more J's.

Like 99% of V-1 users including me turn off POP and it gets rid of 99% of your J outs because POP is so rarely used or hardly at all.

J ='s Junk but I'd still be wary though just the same and not write it off.

Whenever I fire up one of my old classic Fox detectors, the V1 hate's them.. Ka alert then "J" immediately, even if I the fox is in the garage and the truck in the driveway

but from the manual and J is junk (crappy detector nearby leaking signal out).
Still though,,, I'd make sure to check speed and verify to be sure.

Default J's

J's do happen from time to time mostly coming from leaky Cobra rd's.

Here's a cobra falsing my V1. It took a long time for me get distance ahead of it but it finally gave a "J" out. But as long as that a-hole was close behind me it was Ka falsing constant on.
