Default Whistler Radar Detector XR-220 Bang for your buck?

The xtr-220 in all the testing i have done with it thus far, seems to be a stellar preforming unit! The only area it was lacking on when tested was VG-2 immunity. Whistler has rumored to have fixed this problem though in the XTR-660 and the pro-73 or Pro-78 I'd like to test this with my VG-2 and find out? The XTR-220 was highly sensitive to all radar bands x,k,ka, didn't get a chance to test out laser just yet. The response times are outstanding on radar though, great unit for the $ if you don't have alot it is a recommended buy it won't steer you wrong for sure!

Default this

This is a very good rd for the money. I have seen it's detection on radar/laser/VG-2 and it did quite well for the $ that were spent.

I don't know. The Pro-78 is a very good RD, and for $150 or under, I think it's awfully hard to beat. And it is QUIET.

The only concern I have w/ the XTR 220 is the VG-2 shutdown feature. It seemed to lag just a little bit versus the Pro 78/XTR 690 being totally VG-2 immune.

I wonder if it is based on the Pro 58/73 platform.

It'd be nice if we could have Mike B. over here on this forum.

No, I highly doubt it. The Pro 78/XTR 690 is the cream of the crop in Whistler products.

Right the Pro 58/73 platform is the one before the Pro 78/XTR-690 platform. I know it is not based on the Pro 78 platform.

Lightbulb

LAG on vg-2? LOL. IT failed miserably on the xtr-220! I could even pick up vg-2 scatter through 5 peices of tin foil attempting to cut down the radiation on the detector transmitting the signal. It is horrible on vg-2 although AWSOME in my lab tests at IO x,k,ka bandwidth radars. IT beat my v1 more than once in IO k band even! Laser? I didn't get a great chance to test that. No longer have the unit, a friend is using it and having great Luck with it thus far. Haven't got a call of a single ticket?! Now these were mere lab tests a full test has yet to be done. Although at a possible upcoming event in (Atlanta Ga) . One might be done.
