Default Whistler Pro 68

Mike B. tells me it is better than the Pro 73 and the Pro 58.
I can find literally nothing on the interweb about it outside of sales stuff.
So I ordered it. Anybody here have any experience with it?

Never heard of the Pro 68. Pro 78 maybe? If so, it is MUCH better than the other two.

Has the Pro 58 type of display....no voice....down and dirty....I got mine from Amazon.com...but OpticsBestBuy.Com has them as do many others....
Mine will be here Friday....I have the Pro78 and the XTR-690....I'll compare....hey....sounds close to the range and sensitivity of the Pro78 and increased filtering in a budget plain Jane detector.....I'll find out....it is a good looking unit....

Well I'll compare it to my Pro78.
1. The display sucks. Very difficult to read. It is extremely sensitive to heat. I mean any heat above 90 degrees and it starts to wash out. Down to a faint black letter "smear"....not just mine...my neighbor down the road has a brand new one also....same thing. I noticed other "reviews" saying the display was very weak so it is not a defective unit. Furthermore I have now read the first review of the XTR 695. Same thing. The poster tells us the display sucks. MichaelB's recommendation is to park the car in the shade with the windows rolled down a bit. That is ridiculous. I have a recommendation. Pay the extra $3 dollars and get the LED's like the PRO 78 Whistler!!! You are handicapping an excellent RD with a child's toy display!!!.
2. The XTR 690 bounces on the mount something fierce. The Pro78 is rock solid.
3. The XTR 690 has some really nice features. The compass/battery voltage is nice. The unit is solid and well built.
4. The range/performance in K/Ka band is very good. Plenty of time to slow down not only in the straightaways but around curves and over hills.
5. Sound quality is excellent for the alarms and voice.
6. Very good filtration. Few if any falses in major city ( San Antonio) or out on the open road. Whistler had given us additional filters so you can customize not only bands specific/City/City1/City2 but also Filter/ Filter1/Filter2 for additional filtration and verification of weak signals. So it is very quiet!
All in all....I give it a 3 1/2 out of 5. If it had LED's versus the crap LCD I would give it a 4 1/2 out of 5.

Thanks for the info! Have you gotten any laser hits with the XTR?
