Default What Am I Missing on the Whistler Radar Detector Pro 78 ??

Somebody help me, please.

I am considering buying a Pro 78. I will use it primarily on interstate highways in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. I will normally have the cruise control set on 84 mph and covering ground quite quickly.

Tests performed by Guys of Lidar determined that the warning distances for the various bands of the Pro 78 range from around 300 to 700 feet. At 84 mph this is not nearly enough.

I read many reviews where the reviewer was very happy with the performance of the Pro 78 and some receive warnings 1 or 2 miles from the POE.

I have read that Guys of Lidar did not have the new Rev C detectors but I'm sure I read a post by Michael (the Whistler expert) that Rev C does not increase sensitivity with POP off? I also doubt that all the happy reviewers had Rev C detectors.

Any input would be appreciated.

I think you are lucky to have a Rev C Whistler Pro 78 radar detector. Hope you enjoy it!

Keep in mind GOL used radar absorbing foam so they wouldn’t need a 10 mile course.
The pro 78 will have much better range than what GOL showed.

cjr 238,

I was just out playing golf and it came to me about the radar absorbing foam they used in the tests. Thanks for the info.
