Whistler Radar Detector Authorized Dealer List??

I am considering purchasing a Pro 78. I have read about the need to buy from an authorized dealer but I am unable to find a list of authorized dealers. I went to the Whistler web sites and still no list there. There is a link to a list of unauthorized dealers but it doesn't go anywhere. Anyone know where a list is? I have found great prices at a couple of places....Buy.com is pretty good.

I didn't get an answer to my question so I gave Whistler a call. It turns out that there is not a list of authorized dealers but there is a list of unauthorized dealers.

I had previously tried to look at this list a few times (using Firefox) but was unable to bring it up. While I was on the phone with the Whistler rep I tried using both Firefox and Internet Explorer and it came up on both of them. Its quite a long list and buy.com is on the list.

The rep at Whistler was exceptionally knowledgeable and very nice (not defensive because I was trying to buy at a heavy discount) and explained that Whistler would always repair their products at a reasonable price but does not provide the 3 year warranty to products purchased from unauthorized dealers.

I now have to decide if the three year warranty is worth the additional cost.

Whistler Pro 78 is a great starter radar detector, and the performance for the price is great. I always hear about Whistler having great customer service as well.

Regarding the 3 year warranty....eh...i dont think it is necessary...but again anything can happen. After all the radar detectors I have had I have never seen one break unless it was from abuse....most radar detectors are very durable...only kind of wear and tear would be the lens scratching....but you can control that....and then a radar detector needing re-tuning....but in 3 years....it should be fine....in 4-5 years....it might need re-tuning then.

How much is the warranty for 3 years??

To get the 3 year warranty you just have to purchase from an authorized dealer. I expect that authorized dealers are supposed to sell them for $179.00.

I use the valentine one radar for the higher performance end radar...I also use the Bel 980...you might check into that...I paid 70 for it on ebay. I have easily got 1-2 mile ranges on cops with plenty of time to slow down on it....best bang for your buck radar detector I know of...
