Default Whistler Pro-78 Off-Axis Encounter

The local PD was nice enough to set up a Your Speed trailer near my house again. So I made a run toward it and wrote down the results. The Pro-78 detected the signal almost immediately upon cresting a hill that turns slightly toward the radar. Initial detect was about .4 miles from the trailer, with roughly a 120- to 125-degree angle between the beam and the horn on my RD. It held the signal all the way to the trailer, ramping up nicely as it did. Would have been PLENTY of time for slowing down had the deputy been using C/O. I/O would have been tough without a couple rabbits, but still the Pro-78 did well. It is a very quiet area, so ANY signal in that area means SLOW DOWN. Would have been a nice save.

Here's the map:

Great info stealthcb.

Do you have any other models you can test while the your speed trailer is still there?

Of course you may need to retest your Pro78 on the same day just in case the trailer was removed and repositioned.

Wish my town had more speed trailers, looks like some decent distance with that big curve before the speed trailer.

I'm probably going to be doing some K-band (over the hill/curve) tests with my Bushnell once I get my XTR-690 back!

Unfortunately, the only other RD I have at this moment is my old Bel 715i. I went back to test against the sign, though, and the sign had been moved already.
