Default Smartcord Dimming.

Hey Guys, Sorry if this isn't the proper forum for this.

A topic was brought up about dimming the "supernova" LED's in the Beltronics/ Escort Smartcord. I wanted to share this on RadarReviews.Net as well.

It was suggested to change the 470 Ohm resistor going into the power LED to a higher value. I found that adding a 5K resistor reduced the LED illumination to a discreet level but was not visible in the sunlight.

I added a DPDT toggle switch to alternate between a 470 Ohm and 5K Ohm resistor(s) which gave me a discreet "nightmode" and bright "daymode" for my smartcord.

I modified a schematic (below) to incorporate this modification in case anyone else may be interested in this capability. It may not be useful for all but I find it useful (sometimes I get bored and tinker with electronics on the weekend's )

Default like

I like the idea of dimming the smartcord L.E.D if you need to. Less attention at night.

I know, there are simpler ways. I have a curse of being driven nuts if it's not done properly. Tape would drive me crazy.
