Default Speeding Texans inside

I know there's a ton of us. So dump your data here.

HPD has officially fallen in love with the ProLaser 3. They're everywhere. Even in the suburbs. Downtown Houston is crawling with variations of the traditional roof top shooter and a couple of nasty variations of a single shooter with chase cars. The worst of which is a set up on Pierce where my personal fave "officer Greene" shoots from behind a building and attempts to flag the driver over on foot. If that doesn't work there's a chase car behind the building. This set up tagged a friend of mines GF who was so distracted she missed the flagging officer and only knew she got hit after the chase car got her a mile down the road. BTW: She was threatened with "fleeing an officer" but got let off with a warning.

I would like to get some vids of HPD in this practice but they are usually shooting around me. I've only been shot once downtown.

Jeez.. and folks wonder why home break-in's dont have the man hours to be investigated...

I understand monitoring speed,,, but either that's one boring city/town or the cops simply have nothing better to do (i.e. low crime area)... That's an awfull lot of effort by LE to catch "speeders".

Sounds just as bad as NC though... in NC, catching speeders is the #1 job for NCHP and most Co. Sherriff's dept's..

I live in Humble, TX which is about 25 minutes from downtown Houston, going into downtown all the time cops sits on the left side of the highway and shoot the prolaser3 at you all the time as soon as you come over the hill ,
when you are downtown the cops are on foot behind buildings, and then have a car up above to pull you over like you said above....got to love Houston....100% Humidity, Mosquitoes, and cops with lasers everywhere

I think HPD using laser guns should be welcome with open arms any decent laser jammer would take care of that also atleast then you know what your gonna get hit with. Plus I fear instant on way more then laser. I really don't get Leo being all laser happy. I mean if I was and Leo I would be using instant on. I guess eventually we will hit a point where all we will see is laser guns everywhere. Laser jammers will be come more important then owning a radar detector.

I agree with you Whistler, I rather use Instant On.... X Band.

Does anyone know which Radar Gun the DPS use in East Texas? I know Houston and Dallas DPS use Laser but what about East Texas DPS? I can't find the information anywhere.

Dallas uses Laser, Ka and once in a blue moon K. Houston is basically laser with ka mix in sometimes. East Texas I believe uses mostly Ka and K. With light Laser usage depending on the area of East Texas

Thanks, Stalkers are easy to detect with V1. I'm happy about that. I have not encounter with Laser yet in East Texas but with K and Ka only. I'm glad there is not any Laser here yet.

I did encounter laser traveling on I-20 East around the greater tyler area I believe. So their is laser in East Texas. I think its used very little. I think 99% of what you will find out there is radar.

DPS
My experience leads me to state that DPS are very skilled with their Stalkers... they generally are very discrete and can be difficult to flush out if they only use it once every few minutes. Vehicles include marked cars and trucks. Very rarely will I see a slick... Dodge Intrepid I believe it was.

Austin
Austin PD uses mostly Ka in their newer cars. They have a Ford SUV "Highway enforcement" with K band. Rookie cops also are assigned K band hand held units. Never seen X used. Almost all cars are marked. Most slicks are assigned to special task forces, so unless it's "DWI enforcement" you don't have to worry about them being too sneaky. They set up traps with mostly laser. They rarely issue warnings.

Small cities

Burton is Ka.
Thrall is K.
Rockdale is Ka.
Manor is K.

Counties

Travis county cars use Ka and K, and they usually leave them on all the time. They also set up traps with laser, but always in predictable places. They issue many warnings.

Williamson county uses Ka.
Washington county uses Ka. Hidden light bars, but marked.
Austin county uses Ka, dual Stalkers. Hidden light bars, but marked cars.
Bastrop County uses K.
