Default Escort Passport 9500i laser performance vs the V1

I was just curious if the 9500i stands up the V1 in laser performance. I will be picking up a 9500i later today and havent seen any reports about the laser performance of it...

That’s the 1 thing on the 9500I I haven’t had much chance of testing. Out of the 2 9500I's I have owned both only got 1 laser hit each. On one the warning was about 1500ft but I was definitely being targeted, and I saw him 1st. The 2nd one I got no warning but it looked like he was targeting someone else.
From my understanding the V1 has much better laser sensitivity but also falses much more. In ether case if you get a laser warning they pretty much got you.

V1 false much more? What do you mean by that? I never had a false yet with V1 in 3 months of using it. Maybe it does when you have POP On?

V1's false on laser whenever there is an Infiniti with laser controlled cruise control. It also falses on bright red storefront signs. It's not annoying by any means.

In my experience, the V1 is definitely superior in this area.

The V1's laser sensitivity is superior to all other RD's but with that you will get more falses. In the end I would prefer the laser sensitivity but Escort seems to be more focus on accuracy of the alert.

I have seen complaints of neon sign, bright sun and airport falses of laser from the V1. Not a big deal in the end.

V1's directional arrow makes a big difference to me.

Lets remember that in the majority of situations detecting laser is futile.

Thats why you need a jammer.

But yes, there are reported instances where the V1 laser has saved people by alerting them earlier from scatter. It can happen but I would never blindly speed in a known laser patrolled area and rely on it.

However, V1 is clearly the king of laser. I believe it was IRMC that showed us why its reception is so good when he was comparing the diode of the LPP and Blinder and also showed the V1 which has a very large sized receptor.

It seems, from IRCMUSA's IR-videos, that the top laser-detectors, with the exception of perhaps the ZR3 and her sisters/cousins, all incorporate some form of optical collimator at the receiver.

I wonder if the 9500i uses this, too?

In any case, although I have no way of specifically comparing the laser sensitivity of the 9500i versus the V1, what I can say for certain is that the 9500i certainly seems to be more laser-sensitive than the x50 that it replaces as Escort's top-flight/flagship model.

Unfortunately, this seems to have come at a severe cost of increased laser-falses.
