Default Travelling to NYC Via Ohio [80 /90 ], Need some Headsup

Hey folks , i am leaving to NYC tomorrow for the new year ... and will be heading out from Chicago [80-90] to Toledo - Pittsburgh to pick my cousin up and then heading to the big apple ...via 76 / 78

I would like to know any experience you folks had and also i am not sure any of those states have rules for illegal rd's ... another question is at what point i should turn my X band ON as i have heard some of the upstate are still using x band ....as for now i have them off ...

Any good point of interest [POI] would be nice too hear .. food or place to see .. Thanks and happy new year in advance ...

RD's are not illegal in Ohio. Turn X band on in Ohio as well.

I-80 in Ohio (Ohio Turnpike) is a Lidar festival. The State Highway patrol loves to sit in the median (which is a wall with gaps for a vehicle to sit) They sit just around curves and shoot the laser down the wall line. You will have a split second warning when you catch a glimpse of the front end of the car.

If you have a jammer you'll be safe, if not I would advise extreme caution on I-80 in Ohio. These guys are well trained and sneaky as hell. You will also rarely, if ever, see the Ohio State Patrol running constant on radar.

You'll find your RD erriely quiet on the Ohio Turnpike. Be careful, and stay alert for the white front end of a cruiser(s) around curves.

Lord Vector gave you excellent advice above.

I'd actually say that you're relatively safe as long as you stay below 10+ PSL, provided that the conditions are clear and traffic is not a total mess. As long as you're a smooth cruiser (don't cut in and out of lanes, tail-gate, etc.), the Ohio State Patrol is actually relatively good about giving travelers a break.

Unfortunately, local enforcement will be a different story - and I wish I could help you out, but I honestly haven't been on I-80 that much, over the past couple of years, to be of much assistance in that respect.

wow. no more than 10 over PSL in Ohio.

I just drove back to Htown from San Antonio Tuesday and only dipped under 100 once. And that was to stop for gas. V1 was quiet the whole time.

Going to Austin for New Years so we'll see how that segment pans out.

Watch for I/O K band in PA. If you use local roads, watch for VASCAR and ENRADD. Turn CB on.

Aw bro, I never said you *had* to stay that low.

It's just that if you stayed within 10+, the Ohio Bears shouldn't really bother you at all. It makes for rather effortless (if boring, indeed ) cruising.
