Default stuck on either the 9500i or the rx65 radar detector

I dont know which one should i get, mainly ka band here. Who here owns an rx65 or a 9500i, how would you say that the ka band does. The truelock and markloaction would be no use to me.

If you got the cash the 9500I has been very successful on KA for me. Some of the other features are pretty cool to play with too and all most all testing shows the 9500I with better detection than the RX65.

http://guysoflidar.com/august-2007/radar-detector-test.html

However technically the RX65 & 9500I do use the same M4 horn design so they may not be that much different from each other.

What KA band is used the most in your area?

If thats the case the 9500I is better than even the V1 on 35.5.

35.5 sucks for all RD's, but at least the 9500I is going to be one of the best if not the best.

Not that I'm disagreeing with anyone but, in the everyday driving world, they (RX65/9500i) are pretty much equals in Ka detection of all bands.

The RX-65 is a garbage detector... I have seen one person send back 3 ...
Buddy... if your willing to buy a 9500i ... get the V1... the QC is there and the support is there and frankly the Belscort detectors are toys... they work but they take the cobra aspect on functionality... they give you a bunch of stuff that creates other issues.

I have been using the v1 for 4 years now... and have used the rx-65 and have interacted with the 9500i, I have used the 8500...

Bottom Line ... V1 delivers as promised no games just performance...

^ Have to agree

Not that i encounter much radar over her but the RX65 rampup approaching a GATSOmeter is TERRIBLE to say the least. V1 rampup is unreal perfect quick rampup to let you knwo theres a threat!

No offence Subie_07 but i have seen more posts and complaints about the V1 over all Escorts combined. Logically if you have a product that keeps being revised that means there is something wrong with it in the first place.
Isn’t the V1 on 86721 revision now?

Seriously its all personal preference, sometimes specific features make the RD work best for you and not all RD's have what you want.
For me the 9500I is perfect, for someone else the V1 is the only way to go. They all have there + & - and its what you want that counts, not what other people think or perceive is best.

Hers a good example (assuming I like a quiet RD):

My ride to work every day has 26 X & K falses and in that area KA is used exclusivley. Now when i reach the middle part of my commute K is used by the local LEOs, however there is no falses. Now at the end of my commute there is 5 more K falses but the town only uses KA exclusivley.
If I had a V1 I would ether be stuck with the maximum filtering all the time or stuck switching the settings 3 times every day on my way to work to keep it quiet.
But because I have TrueLock i will only get an alert if its a real LEO, I have actually gone weeks without my RD going off.

You must not understand the reversion numbers.... The reversions are mainly hardware and software changes to reflect the hardware... When you change hardware you have kinks to work out... V1 is there to support you every step of the way... I would say there has been more TALK about the V1 issues then the escort issues because their are more V1 users then escort... thought the majority will probably have used both... but I know their has been more issues with escort then V1 ... V1's 2 major issues they had to deal with was the J bug and E bug... both related to a hardware change... that was corrected on the next reversion... Escort had issues with 8500... and the RX -65 is just junk all together... the STi had its set of issues... if I remember correctly...

It been a while since I have been on the boards....

Weather you want to call them kinks instead of problems that’s up to you. But the V1 IMO has had bigger problems than any Belscort (excluding STI's 33.8 issue). A not so old V1 will go out of tune and not notify you, where a Belscort will tell you if there is a problem. A RD junking a real alert is also not a kink that’s a problem.

Belscort sells at least 10 to every 1 V1. Yes those odds are not web sight specific but its true.

Every product has its issues and the V1 is in no way immune or even problem free. Sure there is a few more problems with Belscors lower models but they sell way more than V1 ever will.
