Default New Blue 9500I Radar Detector Reviews

I put a couple hundred miles on my Blue 9500i and had 4 KA encounters.

1st KA-I had a was a LEO around a turn in moving mode and i got about a 3/4 detection range.

2nd KA- I was getting off an exit ramp and there was a LEO with someone pulled over at the end of the T intersection so it was way off axis for him (no way for him to get my speed).

3rd KA-3 lain highway late at night and didn’t spot the LEO but got about a 1 1/2mi range.

I changed to Spec mode from Expert mode to see what was running.

4th KA- Same 3 lane highway in the early morning around a slight bend, LEO was running 34.7 got 2mi range.

All cases had a very aggressive ramp up and reasonable detection range for each scenario. I have noticed that with falses the ramp up is less aggressive unless im on top of it. I may be starting to like this ramp up because I react aggressive like the 9500I does.

It appears that when the 9500I sees a real threat (always KA or strong K) it jumps into a 2-3 or 4. I had primarily KA alerts so far, so for it to be aggressive is a good thing in those cases.
I will do some more tests with falses and K band, they seem more gradual if not on top of them.

Also found the tones are slightly different than my 1707 & 1307.

Today I had 2 more KA 34.7 encounters that were very impressive and ramp up was very acceptable. It was a very assertive alert that ramped up appropriately. Both were around a turn about 3/4mi warning. 1 was a LEO moving and 1 was stationary.

I also got a K 24.160 about 1/4mi while behind a small SUV, i was disappointed with the detection range but it reacted like I/O. Most other C/O K band speed signs i have encountered had better detection than before so i will need a few more encounters to give a final report on K band.

I'll second this one.

Especially for moving (incoming) threats, it's ramp-up is extremely aggressive.

I'm still getting used to it, coming from my Rev5 x50, which I had for 3+ years - but I do like this "interpretation."
