Default Just was wondering why which radar detector is better

You know I've done alot of reading,and I am more confused about radar detectors.I have the escort 8500 x50 blue.Now I want better.I want it for the longest distance .I had alot people say that they are the same.I don't belived that.So this week I bought the Valentine, and I guess I'll compare it myself.Now I've read that STI is better than Valentine.This is so crazy,they can't be equal.THX Alot

Hello,

I've owned many detectors over the years. Starting back with a S and X band only unit all the way now to the V1.

I currently own a 8500 and a V1. Each of the 'TOTL' (top of the line) detectors have pluses and minuses, I myself like the V1 arrows on the V1.

Let us know what you feel is the plus / minuses of each.

Take care,

Spin

X2, each have there own strong advantages you just need to find what one does it for you.

V1=sensitivity & arrows.
STI=stealth with very good sensitivity.
8500=bang for buck & ease of use.
9500I=quiet accurate detection, tone of useful features.

Anyone of the above are awesome, and a few whistlers and lower priced Bell units are good too.

I owned X50 also for only 4 months (starting in July) because I wanted something better like you etap.

I picked V1 because:
Arrows
Bogey Counter
Has the best Ka Sensitivity comparing to 9500i and STi
It is the smallest and lightest comparing to all high end RD (Doesn't really matter but it does to me)
Ridiculous Off-Axis Radar Detection (The only one with great 360 Protection)

Now if you think X50 is really good then once you get the V1, it will blow your mind away and thinking that V1 is much better than X50 not because of the Arrows but because of the radar and laser sensitivity.

I also liked the 9500i and pretty much what the guy above stated. That would be my 2nd pick for me.

I use the Valentine One Radar and I absolutely love it! I have hit a cop out 3 1/2 miles with the V1.... it is a very noisy radar and lots of false alerts.... but you really see it on top of other radar detectors when driving on interstate with nothing around

Make sure to mount it very high by your rear view mirror...if you have tint on your top strip of your windshield, mount it just below this

Even among the top-dogs, certain detectors are more sensitive to certain bands - and even taking that into account, there are STILL going to be unique-unit (i.e. "your V1" versus "my V1") differences that will register due to production variances.

About all you can do is to try to bias your detector selection/choice to best-meet the most dangerous threat in your area, and then just hope for the best.
