Exclamation Installed a new plate flipper on my car

I installed the new plate flipper, you can see the plate flipper in action at plateflipper.com

My question is how much trouble can I be in if caught using it... obviously if they catch you using it to avoid toll roads or red light cameras you would be in alot of trouble....but just for driving around and having fun with other cars, etc..... would he nail me with a no license plate fine... or what???

If you dont plan on using it on red light cameras. Like when you need to cross a yellow and you know its gonna turn red when you get there but you cant slow down in time. If don't use it for that. Then you might as well ship it back. If you just use it as a plate flipper to show to friends the novelty will where off very quickly.

The key being is to always look around you before you flip it down. Then flip back up asap. This will greatly reduce any Leo seeing it down. Chances of and Leo seeing it down is close to zero if your aware of whats going on around you. But of course get relax and lazy about looking around you and your chances go up.

It really depends on Leo to Leo on what kind of ticket he would write.

But if your really that scared of running around with one and using it then maybe you should return it.
I'm really not trying to sound like and ass but that really is the reality of the whole thing.

Only flip down when in motion not sitting still. You could install some kind of position light. So when the plate returns to a certain positon the lights turns off. But when the plate drops down the light stays on or makes a alarm sound. This wouldn't be to hard to install. Of course this would also let you know if the device failed if it continued to stay down when you pressed it to come back up.

Wasn't there a guy from the 07 Bull run that had rigged his license plate cover to fog up when he flipped a switch? I think I saw a youtube demo of it.

Its called tempered glass, you touch a button and your license plate tints instantly, like a piece of glass that is cut to fit exactly over your plate...very descreet.

^ Actually, "tempered" glass isn't the right terminology:

define:Tempered glass - Google Search

What is Tempered Glass?

The device you're thinking of, ProSpeeder was the HideAPlate ->

License Plate Cover up with glass??

From the looks of it, it is/was more than likely based on "smart glass" (laminate glass, liquid-crystal/electrochromic/suspended-particle) technology:

RadarReviews_Net - Did you get the actual FoxPlate? Or is this something else?

I have the plateflipper.com plate that you see on there! I had it installed on there for two days....well I start to drive today and my trunk light is on.... so I pull over and check my back hatch, someone busted one of the screw mounts for it completly off and then my lock on the back latch was broken off...I guess then they got scared off and ran are probably my alarm started to go off.... I had to remove the plate.... someone tried to steal it in only 2 days....

I am thinking of removing it and trying the hideaplate.com plate now instead... honestly the plateflipper.com plate is too thick and sticks out too much on your car...very obvious...especially for cops that something isnt right with your plate.

^ That's not cool! I can't believe that you've already had someone try grabbing it off your car!!!! WTF!!!!

Thanks for the warning about its lack of visual "stealth." Much appreciated.

As for the HideAPlate - is that thing truly out, yet, on the open market?
