Default The future of Radar Detectors?

Where do you see Radar Detectors at in 5-10 years from now, or what would you like to see?

Well the V1 will be exactly the same.
But I think for all others GPS will be used more frequently and in new ways. I hope some type of jammer like an LI head will be built in to a RD.

In 5 - 10 years I could see RD's as being more widely spread as far as the amount of people using one and taking it further with those people owning a high end one (RX65, V1, X50) and being better educated.

As for RD's themselves I would imagine better sensitivity even on low end detectors. Maybe more features like compasses, speed display, and so on. Of course, I realize these exist now but I believe the majority of RD's will have them as "standard" sort to speak.

TIP #1:

Remember that a false radar alert is one in which an RD alerts to radar when in reality there is no radar source. An alert that is triggered by a source other then by a LEO or officer is called a non-threat radar alert. Keep Learning!

Current Active Devices

#1) V1 (3.858) - KA & LASER ON (X & K OFF)

#2) Navalert (ALWAYS ON NOW)

#3) Tom Tom Go 910 GPS ( USED FOR PLAYING IPOD MUSIC AND SEEING SPEED)

#4) Bushnell Speedster II K Band Radar Gun ( FOR RANDOM USE)

Current Inactive Devices

#1) Beltronics Professional Series RX65 (6.2)

Recent Saves

* NONE *

I would like to see a radar like the 9500i that has the gps to mark red light cameras...also to go above that.... have a network people could sign up for, where whenever someone using the same radar detector as you get a full K or KA reading or Laser Reading....say 90% or higher reading...if you were in the area... it would alert you on your radar detector that another user in the area had a full reading hit them...say if you were within 1/2 mile of them. This feature would work excellent if you do a lot of driving in between cities where there is nothing but cars and land out there, could you imagine the extra notice on laser you would receive...

well I hope that in 5 years they dont make them illegal...but with the escort, the only rd I have any experience in. I would like to see the escort have arrows and have the hardwire kit that the V1 has. to where I can have the LCD blue on my dash by my MPH gauge.....and I like what RIP-9500I said, by having the LI integrated with any rd....

I personally would like to see them built into a vehicle, similiar to the sensors on a USAF fighter jet. A LIDAR/RADAR detector on the front, radarlidar antennas on the side, and a radar/lidar antenna on the rear.

I know it probably won't happen though.

More realistically, I believe we'll see many more that actually are closer to the V1 since VR's patents on the dual antennas + directional arrows is coming upon its expiration date for the exclusivity.

I was thinking about that too being illegial in USA. Some RD's companies will be shutdown soon enough if they do not make the product to be invisible to more advance RD Detectors. If Government would have to do it. RD Companies will soon become like the Drug Dealers.

Depends. So far, alot of states don't favor touching the "Lets make RD's Illegal" topic.

There's always some democrat in the PA general assembly who wants to ban RD's and let localities have the Guns each year, and it gets shot down.
