X50 firm ware

I read a lot of posts regarding upgrades, but still had a question. I guess I was mislead when I bought my X-50. At the time I had a 380hp supercharged car and was told by the seller that the unit could get new firmware upgrades online. I've had it for a couple of years now, but it doesn't seem to auto mute as much any more. Especially when driving through shopping centers. It keeps warning.

I just bought my GF a Cobra Radar/Laser Detector XRS9440 Voice and it works great. I guesss I have a similar question is it worth upgrading the X-50 and how much.

Try, first, a hard-reset - hold down all three (3) buttons on the surface of the unit ( remember the "mute" button? yep, I'd almost forgotten it existed, having used the SmartCord exclusively :: ), and then cycling the power to the unit.

This will initiate a reset, and you should see the display show with your unit's current firmware.

Many times, this can effectively cure simple "hickups."

Remember to go through and re-set all of your user preferences, as they will be themselves reset to default.

If this doesn't work, give Escort's C/S a call, that's the best way to do it, instead of any of us here guessing at how much it will be, or even if it can be done at all.

Definitely upgrade to an X50, its far superior to any Cobra.
