Default Houston Decoy Speed operation captured on my scanner

On the way home last night my scanner picked up a speeding operation on I-45 north between Tidwell and Crosstimbers. There were an unknown number of marked cars working but the vehicle reporting was an unmarked unit calling violations from traffic. It was too far away and too much traffic for me to roadie out on that side of town.

Funny observations: Silver BMW was reported speeding and right when he was about to roll into the trap he exited. The broadcaster was furious and said something to the effect of. "Guys, we got to get a unit down on the feeder road. That's the third one we lost at that exit."

ouch!

I hope they stop their [...] operation soon. I don't want to spend some more $$$ on a scanner

How about this model??

Uniden BCT15 Police Scanner TrunkTracker III - eBay (item 360038541774 end time Apr-10-08 09:47:51 PDT)

Also I probably would need to install an antenna on the car for better reception?? I guess this unit would mount in the trunk.....and then I plug something up at the front my the drivers seat for this to work??

Exactly, you need to mount the antennae as high as possible. However; roof mounts can be tricky if you're headliner is fragile. I screwed my trucks headliner up trying to route antennae wire once. Frankly, I'm happy with my Larson glass mount. It works pretty well and I can pry it off without any holes later. If I replace the C6 with an M3 or an S4 I will probably drill the hole and install a true whip antennae.

That's a sweet scanner but it's hard to justify an investment like that for a technology that is quickly becoming obsolete.

Ok last one:
Uniden BCD396T Handheld Digital Police Scanner NEW - eBay (item 380024630636 end time May-07-08 17:16:45 PDT)

How does the BCD396T compare to the BCT396 you were showing me...do both of them have the alert when there is a cop within 3 miles in your area it will alert their signal...I would like to know that...having the V1 searching for him and then also an alert if there is a cop in my area...would be great when traveling out in the middle of nowhere
