I've heard about it but never seen it. DPS has always been Ka 34.747. They must calibrate those units regularly because they're always spot on that frequency.

I'm pretty sure they do in around big cities. I don't think they do on Highways and no reason for them to anyway (my opinion).

DPS does use the Stalker lidar but it is not the perfered method of clocking vehicles. Radar is still king with DPS. 95% Ka & 5% K on some of the Comercial vehicle units. About 5 years ago I was dam near nailed by a DPS cruiser on 59N just north of Humble. about 80 in a 55 when the V1 & Blinder M-10 started singing. barked really hard & flipped the Blinder off. The car behing me got stopped. Too close for comfort with a really old jammer with water intrusion issues. Retired the M-10 for a M-40 after that.

Spoke to a LEO buddy a few weeks ago & he informed me that DPS has shelved all laser units until the Texas legal issues with lidar being admissible in court are cleared up. This can change with one order from the top & they can start shooting again at any time.
