Default Making laser jammer videos, how do they do it?

I was just curious after our last test we had difficulty filiming the view of the laser gun, we tried sticking a normal camcorder in the view where you usually use your eye...hard to know where you are looking at on the camera, also the view of the video wasnt so great, any ideal on what equipment people may be using to get footage of the laser gun in action?

Well from 1st hand experience with attempting this feat I understand what you are asking. The guys at laserjammertests.com have this down to a tee to keep everything nice and steady. I tried it and its very tough if you have not done it before and it felt like I had parkinsons diease since I was all over the place. I know that John is very good at this type of testing thru the HUD because I know he was a sniper in the army and is very steady at doing this type of shooting. I also noticed while I was shooting thru the HUD my shooting eye would go weirdo on me because I was not used to the view.

I also noticed from the current discussion of the 2 tests on the east coast that the shooters are not very good at holding video camera and shooting thru HUD and it looked like the shooters had parkinsons diease since they were all over the place.

I got a video of my first attempt at filming through the hud of a Stalker LZ1 against the LI dual.....Its a hard thing to do but enough practice you can master it!

EDIT:having the gun mounted on a tripod helps alot...Along with a camera that has a side view screen

Not only is hard to get a steady shot it's also hard to find the targeting dot in the viewfinder. On a sunny day the glare is brutal.

I can see why the old blinder vids were shot inside an apartment facing the street.

Question Re: Making laser jammer videos, how do they do it?

I don't understand why image stabilization would solve most of these issues.

Shooting through the hud is easy but you have to have some practice first.

First get a tripod and mount the gun on it
Get your camera and look through the view finder and not the flip out unless you have to.
Make sure the tripod is loose so that when you pen the camera up against the hud when you move the camera it kinda moves the tripod.

Always find the dot before you start shooting. I hate when they are almost at me and I am like oh I just found the dot and have to start the run all over.

Outrun
