Default Antiflash / Reflector Stickers

[not really Red Light Camera, but this thread looks most appropriate to here]

Hello All,

I'm looking for anti-flash/reflector stickers. These are black stickers cut in the shape of the numbers on the license plate and once the flash of the speeding camera goes on, it reflects back the light. Here are a couple of examples. When looking at the license plate with a naked eye at daylight, the number looks completely normal.

I think 3M had such stickers, in a roll, obviously marketed for other intentions, but I'm not sure how the product is called. Any idea?

Thanks,
Alon

Alon, I'm honestly not sure how to advise you on this one.....mainly because I do not know of the type of traffic-cameras in your area.

If you are certain that the tape can help you, then go for it - but if you have cameras in your area that utilize video-based sequencing, such as Redflex, such passive measures typically will not work, as there will be sectors of travel of your vehicle through the camera's shooting range that will, typically, due to the angle of the plate versus camera, defeat such measures. This is what caused a problem with the PhotoBlocker spray used here in the US, as well with the second-generation VF PhotoJammer.

Also, some cameras utilize multiple-flashes in order to defeat some countermeasures. As you may be aware, this is how the first version of the VF PhotoJammer was defeated.

Finally, if your cameras utilize IR, again, this would be an unknown, versus such tape.

And an additional factor to consider would be whether such reflective tape might make your car an easier target for police LIDAR acquisition.
