Default Main problem

The main problem w/ RLC's is the safety situation. The govt has claimed the RLC's are about safety but I can tell you otherwise. Now, I am not saying just go out and run a red light, this is at all not what I am stating. Picture this, a person in a vehicle in coming up to a RLC intersection and the light turns yellow but instead of "clearing" the intersection, the thought goes thru their mind to slam on their brakes very hard not knowing a vehicle was right behind them. BAM, the vehicle from the rear slams the trunk into the person's back seat. Now how is this promoting safety guys? Vehicle accidents because of what I just stated, have went up on an average of 35-50% at these intersections. Does this help you understand how the govt has made many mistakes in installing these RLC'S at these intersections? I am not promoting running a Red Light, just stating the facts in which the govt doesn't want you to know about.

They prevent one accident (T boning) but that prevention of one accident causes more of another type. So you're back at square one. The only thing the RLC accomplished was just changing where the hit ended up at. On some cars, namely certain economy cars, a rear hit can be even worse since some vehicles have issues with their gas tanks from a rear collision. I have found the best way to prevent red light running, and subsequent accidents is to get a good engineer in and re-engineer the intersection. Longer yellows, clear out time (Where all lights are red for a small moment in the change), as well as refreshing the markings and signs makes an intersection significantly safer. Look at Fairfax for example. They lengthened their yellows by 1.5 seconds, and saw a 95% drop in red light running.

Default agree

I agree w/ the longer yellows but it is hard to get longer yellows accomplished sometimes in these cities.

I agree with Red Light Cameras.

There are so many Beep ing A Holes on the Roads where I am, that constantly run red lights.

We have way too many fatalities where some poor innocent person got killed by some ignorant jerk who ran a red light.
