Default Possible laser in Deer Park, TX

Deer Park TX is an industrial suburb 15 miles SE of Downtown Houston.

I have video of this but my daughter was jacking with the camera and there appears to be a gap in it. When I get to my big computer tonight I'll download it and see if it's salvageable.

I was traveling southbound on Hwy 225 about 15 over PSL. I was passed by a silver Ford F150 going about 25 over PSL. Since traffic was light I let him rabbit ahead at about 500-800 ft. I was in the #2 lane and he led in the #1 lane.

When I crested the overpass @ South Battleground Road I observed an undetermined but marked Crown Vic sitting perpendicular to the highway behind the frontage road. The Crown Vic was sitting on Old Underwood road which terminates into the 225 frontage road which leads onto 225. I coasted down to the PSL but had no laser or radar alerts during or after I ID'd the Crown Vic. The PU maintained speed and position, and the Crown Vic pulled onto 225 and pulled him over on the right shoulder a half mile ahead. It was Deer Park, PD.

If it was a radar strike I would have gotten an alert and since the PU was in the #1 lane to my left and the Crown Vic was ahead to my right a laser hit could easily have been undetected. So I'm guessing the Deer Park cruiser was using laser from the driver side window and probably targeted the truck as it crested the overpass.

I was unable to ID the gun but if I had to hazard a guess I would predict that it was an LTi Ultralyte. I confirmed a La Porte Moto unit using an Ultralyte in July and La Porte and Deer Park are neighboring municipalities. Probably lots of inter-department cooperation and group purchasing around there.

Sup Stealth. Actually, I like her many ways better than Starla. She's less brittle and a lot lower profile.

Oh, and did I mention she has a back seat?

Anyways, this is the VID I cobbled together from what my daughter shot and didn't shoot. Penny doesn't quite understand the concept of bulk footage so she was filming, pausing, filming, pausing. No big deal, at least she's interested.

First of all. It wasn't a Ford it was a Dodge Hemi PU. I thought it was but since I didn't have the video to check on, I second guessed myself and guessed wrong. (My Dad would be furious with me about that. "Always, know what your looking at and confirm it" he would say)

If you look closely you can spot the white Crown Vic off the frontage road and see it moving up to the freeway. I estimate the truck was shot at 800ft as it crested the hill. Probably laser since I didn't get an alert.

Man...by the time she is ready to drive she is going to be so educated on radar & laser

Wish my dad taught me all that when I was young!

Hopefully she will be educated enough from you not to buy a cobra radar detector when she turns 16

Yeah, what's funny is when I was a kid my Dad put me on "cop watch" detail. I had to scan the horizon for cops. When I got older I even used binoculars but obviously this was before motion control so it didn't work very well.

Another game was when he would quiz me on the cars we passed by make and model. Which is why he would give me a ton of sh!+ for calling that Dodge a Ford in my first description. ::

LOL. I'm just happy I survived teaching my daughter to drive. Probably took 5 years off my life.
