Default Brake Light Kill Swith

Besides the legality, I have some other questions. For safety and the stealth of mounting, I need to use a 50mA momentary switch. The problem is that the brake fuse is rates at 15 amps, so I am going to need to have to use a relay. The problem is still that I have to find a 50ma 12v source somewhere to trip the relay. Where, or how, can I obtain a 50mA 12Vdc source in a car? I don't want random batteries laying around.

Try fulcrum on .com - he's the guy who did a lot of tail-light modifications.

I wish I could help ya, but I've never tried this one. Safety, as you cited, is a concern, and since I haul Anna, well, you get the idea.....

I would be more concerned with the nose of your car doing a dive when you hit the breaks....as the cop will most likely be in front of you anyway....

^ This can also be very useful in rear-engagement scenarios.

Additionally, for those vehicles whose suspensions are hard enough to resist the worst of nose-diving, combined with proper brake-modulation by the driver, this can get very, very tricky.

It's definitely not something to be used brainlessly, but for the right circumstance, with the right pilot, this is a very, very advanced countermeasure.

I had a break light turn off switch many years ago. I used it when racing and getting chased by cops so they wouldn’t see my break lights at night and see where i turned off. Only did it once.
I also had a reverse light switch to bright tailgaters, boy did they freak out...

I think I'm still going to try this, people on my cars forums helped me out without me telling them what I was doing. This is only going to be a momentary switch, so it will always be at my discretion of when to use it. It looks like all I need is a relay to switch the big current. I found someone who will make it for me so I'll probably just go with that.

What kind of a car is this? You shouldn't need any of that. Sounds like you're trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

I got it all figured out now, I didn't know that much about DC but I had some people enlighten me about it. The problem now is that there still isn't a relay that is less than 50ma. I've got someone that said they could make one for me, just waiting to get some money.

Red face Re: Brake Light Kill Swith

The point is you shouldn't need a relay, but whatever. Good luck.
