  |  Whistler DE-1788 Radar Detector Review rating: 5/5 by: Epinions Author master-r - Whistler started with radars for marine corps and all products made by this company are not cheaply made, but made like military kind. I tried Cobra XRS 9930 and prefer Whistler 1788, less false alarms. Reliable. Cool display and sound alerts. Sound volume OK (just switch off "Quiet" mode). Possible to use cord, if batteries low (better remove them in that case). Turn off display light and use detector for over 20 hours without cord. Really number 2 in the world among detectors with batteries. People are not honest giving one, two or three stars to this detector, that is why I give five stars.
