Speed trap on Route 90 just West of Silver City is manned fairly often by Silver City PD and possibly Grant County Sheriff. Radar can be either K or Ka.

US180 through Santa Clara is pretty bad. The local cops love to bust people coming down that long hill. They even gave a speeding ticket to a volunteer fire fighter on his way to assist in a house fire.

Exactly right. I have seen radar squads parked in the National Guard Armory as well as that funeral parlor in Santa Clara. And 180 from Santa Clara to Silver City is regularly patrolled by New Mexico State Police.

I worked for Pepsi about 6 years ago up in Silver/Deming and I filled the Santa Clara PD pepsi machine. They never bothered me otherwise no soda.

My usual truck topped out at 66 mph. Once I was given a tractor trailer rental that did 77 mph. I was trucking along US180 between Deming and Hurley and got clocked by a NM DOT. He hit the lights, pointed to me to slow down and kept going. I thought for sure I was goinig to get a ticket.

Interesting....my wife got stopped heading from Santa Clara to Silver City by a State Police. He gave her a pass and wanred her ro slow down. I don't think Grant County or Silver City PD are that lenient though.
