Default Laser distance

I herd a laser gun cant get your speed till your 1000-1500ft away? If this is true you would most probably see the LEO before he can get a lock on your speed.

Default oh no

Oh no, I have clocked cars w/ my Kustom Pro II laser speed gun at over 3000 feet, but this was from an overpass also. The norm lately seems to be under 1000 feet and even sometimes under 500 feet, but you can clock someone further than 1500 feet Rip. It sure helps to own a laser speed gun, let me tell you.

I could imagine, I have learned so much from watching videos and clips on what a LEO really sees when enforcing speed limits. It is certainly helpful.

I guess than why would a LEO clock someone at 500ft when they can do it at 3000ft? Anytime I have seen laser in use I have seen the LEO before he has tagged me (or im assuming because I was definitely speeding and he was definitely shooting laser)?

Default the reason

RIP, the reason they like to clock folks at 500ft vs 3000ft is no advanced warning on your equipment ie rd, laser jammer. And the closer you are to the officer, the harder it is to jam lidar. I did pick up laser on my Bel STi from a local cop who was shooting lidar from between 200-400ft. Keep in mind though, the Bel STi was mounted mid windshield. Still surprised it went off though.

So could we assume that Laser is used at less than 1000ft almost all the time by LEO’s?

Not by CT or MA staties. They will try to peg you from 1500+ ft out.

And I agree with IRCMUSA, at 1000 ft or less, you will be locked in 1 sec or less 99% of the time with any gen 3 gun.

Thanks! I live in CT and the 1500 mark is important. I will still most likely see them before they laser me at 1500ft but its good to know. Would it be more than a second to lock at 1500ft?
