Oh..... You think so. I've been a motorcycle rider for years. I have a perfect driving record. I aslo have marksman training. What does that all mean??? I am probably one of the most observant individuals you will ever talk to. I am telling you that there will be occasions where you WILL NOT see them until 500 ft. They are sneaky. I got popped in the face by a MA statie using a Laser Atlanta at about 175 ft. I didnt see him and he didnt see me until about 200ft. He got jammed for that complete 1.5 second rondevouz. You can use math to determine how fast I was travelling. It is not uncommon for CT staties, especially the guy out on eastern I-84 with the unmarked Charger, to hide behind bridge support columns. I had trouble spotting him in the daytime. Imagine if it were night. Don't rely on the 1500 ft thing. That is not a rule. Just be observant and drive safe.

And in MA, I believe the record right now is at 1790 ft. Don't ask me how I know...

X2, they can be pretty sneaky. I have been lucky the few laser hits I have had the LEO was parked horizontally, standing shooting at me off the roof of his car. The way I drive there is always a few rabbets ahead of me so I watch for them breaking too.
Because Laser is primarily is used on highways where I drive its easer to estimate where they would hide, especially if they shoot at 1000ft or so. Night time is a whole other story.angry

I need to get a pair of Thermal infrared goggles.

, that too.

I have been lucky, only hit by laser 2-3 times in 8 years in CT & NY.

Default depends

Kind of depends on the target. The bigger the vehicle, the faster it can usually get a reading. While driving a semi truck, I know they can get a reading w/ out even looking in the HUD of the laser gun. While driving my small car (ricekicker), it will take longer to get a reading. Surfaces like crome make it even easier to pick you up on the laser gun.

During some testing I have targeted cars at 3,500 feet and lock on was pretty damn quick.
