Default Re: From the engineer of Laser Mask, update on diode head

I have a new model laser mask with latest software that I purchased, will display the results and the serial number of the unit if anyone likes.

Also another member on here just purchased the laser mask 4 head as well, both will be out there at our testing site, should be able to see more results and provide stats on the laser jammers if need be.

We will not have the XR laser gun out there however, as this laser gun isnt used in the USA, and dont see a need to test any laser jammer against it.

Cool, mhardy. Thanks!

And FWIW - I agree with RR.net's last sentiment...that as we do not see the Traffipatrol XR here in the US, data concerning it really, well, isn't a concern.

What I'm trying to dig to the bottom of here is simply what version was used in the GOL testing, so that there's absolutely no "shadow" on the product that any of its detractors (or the reverse) could claim.

I would also like to know. Since it was verified what vesion of LI was used why can't we verify what version LaserMask was used? The reciept they got if purchased from LaserMask would have serial # on it but I guess they dont want to provide it. Thats ok..Life goes on and so do sales!!

To me, I'll take it at the GOL's word that they obtained the latest unit.

I would imagine that giving the receipt date/serial number could well allow tracking of WHO purchased the unit, thereby exposing their blind-purchase source, a loss which cannot be easily recovered, and would be akin to a media outlet violating its trust with confidential informers.

I understand that this leaves a lot to be questioned, particularly of the conflicting data between the observed performance of the tested unit versus the XR and what the engineers at LaserMask are saying, but I think that with all due consideration, it's perhaps the best resolution that we can come to.

With that said, I think it's also important to point out to any stateside who are considering the LaserMask that the XR performance is irrelevant, as it is very, very, very unlikely that we'd ever face this threat, in North America, much less in the USA.

In my mind, even the tested version of the LaserMask - even if it is not the latest revision - is more than good enough, for those searching for something that's "good enough."

If thewy purchased it from a dealer and thats the version they got it should be tested. I have no patients for the well it wasn't the most uptodate version. If GOL purchased that jammer a person of the general public could of had the same jammer. I don't see the point all the bitching about the jammer not being upto date

Now that brings the question to me is how it was known to GOL that the PASS unit they obtained was defective? Would it be obvious t oa person of the general public that it was defective?

I think you are a little late on expressing your dissatifaction. We have already agreed it doesn't matter what version it was. The results are the results. We where just saying it would be interesting to know to verify if LaserMask is shipping older units..I would not think so but anything is possible!

^ Good question.

That's a very hard one to call - I have no doubt that the testers were able to recognize potential fault, to any experienced jammer user, there are tell-tales.

But you're right, that's going to be a hard call for just a "regular joe." Hell, in the way that some of these units fail, honestly, even you or I wouldn't know, without routine testing....

I think that the RD.net thread recently started, in the Laser Jammers sub-Forum, detailing the various "tells" of a misbehaving jammer system, will help both the experienced user as well as the newcomer keep on top of their jammer system.
