E14 is the dreaded jam-code on the Traffipatrol.

Under the section entitled "The Laser Guns," near the beginning of their testing write up, this is what jimbonzzz wrote, and I believe it to be a succinct and accurate description of both the Traffipatrol LIDAR devices, as well as gives a glimpse as to why the E14 is so dreaded:

Quote:
The Traffipatrol is supposedly very easy to jam, but is very sensitive to triggering E14 jam codes. So the challenge for the jammers isn't simply being able to jam this gun: the challenge is being able to jam it without triggering any E14 jam codes. This gun is commonly used in countries where jammers are illegal. In some European countries where this gun is used, triggering a jam code means a 2000 Euro fine, and jail time.

Thus, if you're likely to see Traffipatrol in your area, currently, the LI is truly your only choice.

The LPP and AL G8 were reported to effectively jam the Traffipatrol, while rarely eliciting the E14 code, however, it has also been said that while jamming the Traffipatrol devices, they produce a distinct audible feedback tone on the LIDAR device, and this may also create a hazardous legal situation for you, particularly if the operator is an experienced and well-knowledged one.

It is rumored that the Laser Mask does support Traffipatrol jamming, but that something might have been awry (including the potential that an older unit was used) with this unit during the GOL testing.

REF: From the engineer of Laser Mask, update on diode head

I will alert the GOL of this information, if they haven't already, to see what they say in-reply.

Of the two devices, the XR reportedly is rather hard to elicit a the dreaded E14 from:

"JA-n" is the Laser Atlanta's "possible jamming detected" code, which appears in both its HUD as well as on its main LCD display when an error condition that its onboard processor determines to be POTENTIAL jamming is present.

When this code is coupled with the display of "Jammern" on the main LCD indicator, the LA has positively detected jamming.

Since this is specifically in relation to the Laser Atlanta, something which you do not have in your area, you need not be worried.

Additionally, it is well-known that, currently, the jammer-detection algorithm on the Laser Atlanta is *easily* falsed (i.e. returns with false-positives). This alone gives the jammer user quite a bit of buffer, in terms of being able to tactically disengage, prior to the enforcer thinking that there might be something truly wrong, as such false-positives are seen so frequently.
