Remember you are the one who started bashing the laser star.

I just defended it and threw a few jab's at your $100 radar detector and your car and you could not take it. My point was to do what you just did and you did exactly what I wanted.

The laser star works and I would not have spent $600 to get it installed on my bmw if it did not work....so get over it.
The reason I am doubtful of laser star is the shady people behind it. Whistler has the best support in the CS industry. If Laser Star had a good reputation behind it, it would be the same thing.

^ That is a problem that the LaserStar will have to "prove" itself for.

As with many others, I have little doubt that it is likely a very good performer - likely on the same scale as any of the top-flight diode-based jammers.

However, it does carry the history of its makers and current marketing team with it, and this is something that it will need to overcome, if it is to survive and thrive in today's highly competitive market.

Just a few weeks ago, the LaserStar was the most attractively priced diode-based system on-market. With the Cheetah PASS, that position has become contested.

The Cheetah carries with it undeniable market-presence simply due to both its name as well as the "known-quantity good-guy" value of RacerX. Currently, in this comparison, that is where the LaserStar fails.

If LaserStar is to succeed, it needs to outgrow this particular association - and the only way to do so would be first for its marketing team to no longer utilize the same "spamming" techniques that it's so fond of, as well as to stop the negative-advertising against other jammers, as well as to, secondly, truly take care of its customers in terms of any warranty claims in the coming months/years.

It needs to completely burn-away the negativity that's been associated with both its principle, as well as its current stateside marketing team.

If they both had equal performance:

PASS 2 head = $600
Laser Star 2 Head = $600

Pass 4 head = $800
Laser Star 4 Head = $900

PASS Support = RacerX
Laser Star Support = Neil Brown, Chris, and the spamming goons....

PASS is simply more attractive at retail price.....

If Laser Star lowered prices, I might consider.... But I would think it would be worth it to pay more with RacerX and get real support(not saying Laser Star has bad support, but some of their tactics are alot less than ethical...).

Well take a look at alot of the car websites and you will see people spamming them with LI group buys and people thinking the results are legit. I dont see you or anyone else talking about that spamming. My laser star works and that is what matters to me. I have been very pleased with the customer service from the guys at laser star and the time the guys at laser jammer tests took out to show me the laser star.

^ "Group Buys" are not SPAM. They are simply large-quantity "buys" that either Forum/community members have arranged for themselves, or a Forum-approved/supported Vendor has arranged.

The level of end-user input as well as organization required in such "Group Buys" - as well as the approval of the Forum community in generating/initiating and supporting such - in and of itself defies the description of SPAM.

Unfortunately, it seems that the principle of the LaserStar has nothing better to do than to SPAM:

SPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITESPAM WEBSITE/LaserInterceptor/smf/index.php?topic=365.0

[ Looks like the LI website doesn't link properly here...... ]

And this is just this one community's response to such a pathetic effort of this individual to "self amuse."

And here's the greater community's outcry:

Radar detector jammer forum: View topic - Bust-Heads aka Neil Brown

Truly, I do not see how, with this display of malicious intent, LaserStar will ever be able to turn-around its current level of negative public perception.

Sad.

Really sad.

Even with what could very well be a good product on-hand, this kind of behavior will not win any customers........

Its kinda like a politican buying a hooker and getting caught with his pants down and spinning it to make it look bad for another person. I think LI made this up to take or try to take heat off of themselves.

The problem is, Laser Star has a very repetitive history of doing this... So does Neil Brown.....

Well believe what you want but the fact of the matter is that the laser star works and that is want matters to me. I dont care about the politics but only that is keeps me from getting tickets.

OvenCleaner..when are you going to make up your mind about what jammer you want??? First you want the blinder, then you want the lpp, then you want the LI, then you want the pass and your back to waiting for the GOL to make tests without any proof to back up the results. I would not have bought the laser star and paid $600 to get it installed on my bmw if it had not worked. What is it like being on a band wagon?

For people undecided on what jammer to buy, just wait for the GOL tests. Another option is to buy something with proven performance eg. LPP/AL, or LI.

Remember that quality doesn't come cheap

^ If anyone was to purchase "now," I'd definitely say to wait.

Not just for the results of the next GOL, but also that of the CT-area hobbyist group, as well as the Central-Florida area hobbyist group.

Although the latter two are more restricted when it comes to LIDAR equipment as well as do not claim "quantitative" testing, they are still very well-recognized and well-respected hobbyist groups, with good levels of experience, and their results *do* count.

^ If that's the case, then LI took advantage of the fact that Neil Brown has, as Oven cited, repeatedly, in the past, used this type of advertising trickery.

Sadly, his old tricks and history then has caught up with him - and in this case, if it *wasn't* him, then he needs to step forward and wash himself of such an attack.

It's "the boy who cried wolf," and sadly, the LaserStar is saddled with the onus of outliving its reputation.

And although to you, Bmw, such side-issues may not matter, to many in this community, it does. Just as there are those who have swore-off LI due to the way early CS issues played out, there are tenfold more who will not touch anything that bears Neil Brown's involvement, or the involvement of the "Four Horsemen/Goons." This is just a fact, in this community, and undeniably, it's also the viewpoint of many of the very influential old-timers, and this *will* affect consumer-confidence, when it comes to new entrants into this hobby community.

Similarly, one has to remember the history of this individual's (as well as the associated North-American marketing team's) past projects. What was proven to be ill-conceived and what was proven to not work was simply abandoned; and when it was obvious that a quick buck was to be turned, even otherwise longstanding relationships were burned. With this kind of moral/ethical compass, can one truly be comfortable with the thought of future warranty/service claims?

Again, I don't dispute that the LaserStar probably works quite well - based on its similarities to the AL/LPP, it should work very effectively for all North American threats, and I'd actually honestly be surprised if it *didn't*.

Similarly, I don't deny that the pricing is attractive.

However, with the PASS giving the LaserStar a run for its money in both such respects - and with the Cheetah-USA name, as well as the support of RacerX behind it - I'd honestly think that the ancillary issues of company ethics/conduct as well as the specter of future customer-support/warranty needs will drasticly shift things in favor of the PASS.
