Looks like i was able to save almost a grand with another purchase I made, so I should be ordering the CI soon, than hopefully an LI soon after.

Even if I gave it March of this past year, that's still only around 6 months' worth of road-use/data.

That's hardly "long term," and the second batch of US LI heads started warranty claims at around that time as well, thus nullifying the claim (not to mention that there are still those of us both in Taiwan and here in the US - myself included - who remain trouble-free, to-date, of their 8.0 version LI heads....which is quickly approaching the 1-year point).

And don't backtrack to the AL/LPP as comparable items - LaserStar as well as PASS both billed themselves as being better than the competition, in terms of weathersealing.

The AL G8 continued, all the way up to its point of discontinuation, to suffer from weathersealing issues.

And it wasn't until the second batch of LPP heads here, in North America, that we started to see truly decent weathersealing.

So far, the only companies still standing that can offer true claims of "long term durability" are Escort and Blinder.

last quick question, do the ZR4 heads detect the laser, or the CI receiver, or both?

I believe it's just the ZR4 heads, when the ci is the item-of-interest.

I am more concerned with what they use to weather sealing internally not externally... and I know that the first batched used silicone... not epoxy. So if your weather seal does go bad... your fucked ... silicone expands and contracts with the hot and cold...

I have not seen the internals of the new heads... but I hope Ivan did not stay with the cheap route and went with epoxy...

The build quality of the Laser Star is extremely well... but thats another topic... I am not saying that the Laser Star is better... I will say that the Laser Star is more protected then the LI by using epoxy inside the heads and not silicone... thats what I have seen in the past. Like I said hopefully that has changed...

And the Laser Star has been around for more then a year... they just started up big productions early this year... So they have been around alot longer then you think...
