![]() | I am an observant driver. I have a bel sti driver, lasershield, laserviel, lasermask. My question is this. Its great when we get a radar hit miles away, heck even a few feet away, but what about those Sneaky patrol cars that hug the left lane on the highway and wait till your a few hundred feet away--then ZAP ( KA blast) . Of course what I am refering to is instant on radar while moving. It sux bad. I almost got caught twice. Primarily at night, when I could not tell what was what. and of course the flow of traffic was pretty good. I began to think....How long does it take for the officer to get a LOCK on thier radar after hitting thier Transmit button or RF hold button on thier radar? Do we have time to slam the brakes when we get that KA blast,or is it to late? Ask yourself that question folks, because I just experiienced this 3 times in the last 12 hours From NYC to Nassau County LI. Thank you ,and drive observant!!! ![]() | If he nails you with I/O from close range, it's too late. Your only hope is that he can't pick you out of the crowd (assuming you were moving with the speed of traffic) and goes after someone else. I/O radar is more dangerous than laser.

![]() | It's called instant on for a reason. Where I travel I mainly deal with oncoming, opposite lane IO. Without a rabbit you are done when hit with it.

![]() | Probably absorbs some, but not near enough to help you out. There is a reason the Stealth planes are built like they are.

![]() | You definetly are right about the plates helping out a little. In my opinion I feel that LEOs are bieng more aggressive and are not cutting any slack. The other day I had a bear on my tail hiytting me with I/O about 4 car lengths away from me. He kept on for about 4 miles. I/O sucks. I think another solution would be to look into a scanner with Trunking abilities. butthen again, I am not sure if that will help in advance. Can a scanner with Trunking abilities give you fair warning of an LEO before they hit you with I/O? Can that be the ultimate question to neutralize the threat? Mustang- FDNY SOC 111

![]() | Sure a scanner can help you. IF you take the time to learn it, and you get the kind that works in your area. I am lucky, in Ok they still run analog and broadcast locations on stops. I run the Bct8, but lots of places are going digital and encrypted, not to much to help you there. This is why some of us run scanner, CB, one or more RD, jammers and trapster. Layers of defense is a big plus. And of course your eyes can help out a lot.
