Default Cold weather good for the detector?

Its getting fairly cold here in Northeastern Pa. i have been taking my 9500i for the night just bc of theft issues. but is it ok to leave it out there over night when it is cold.

Leaving it in the cold is one thing, using it is another. If you leave it outside (when its really cold) you have to let it warm back up before you use it.

How do you do that? And why?

If i were to leave it outside in the cold i normally start my truck up to let it warm. And since my detector isn't hardwired i wouldn't turn it on till i got back into the truck when things are kinda warm.

I have a brand new x50, and when I jumped in the truck this a.m, it started throwing full x-band alert. I turned it off...waited...powered it back up, and it seems good. This is now my second x50 with this problem.

It was between 35-45 degrees in Houston last night, and my truck is kept in the garage. However it was still pretty cold in the truck when I got in.

My RD is hard wired, so I wonder if I should just turn the dial to off at night, and leave it off until the cab warms up. Downside is, I really need the RD for the first few miles of my commute.

Catch 22...

Turn it on after the truck is started.

i have never had a problem with a cold RD, just don’t take the RD from cold to warm too quickly.

Never experienced any problems with my X50 and I leave it up all the time. I think heat is harder on them than the cold. We all should probably take them down but I am just lazy. Plus once the cups come off they are hell to put back on a cold window.

That was probably more of a result of the sudden burst of electrical current rather than the cold-warm thing.

I leave mine up during the cold and haven't had a problem yet.
