First there is allot of additional things AutoLearn is taking into account for a lock/unlock. It knows location, band, frequency, speed, time of day...

1- The first tests i did were always at slower speeds (~35mph) and more than enough passes to unlock automatically. Not once did it unlock a signal that’s was auto locked after passing with no alert for days/weeks.

2- The 2nd set of tests I did all were done at higher speeds (~50mph). Besides getting an AutoLock after ~4-5 passes almost every time the signal was Unlocked or partly unlocked.
In the partly locked scenario I was surprised to see the spinning icon for about a second, then alerting, then spinning icon again. Seamed odd, but I was happy I got an alert at least. My feeling is the signal drifted then cam back to the original frequency.

So from my testing AutoLearn unlocks at speeds ~50mph and up after approximately ~5-6 passes with no alert. But may not ever unlock if the lock out is in an area you drive at slower speeds ~35mph.

I will have a more detailed post with videos and other findings. Though i still am not 100% comfortable with auto learn unlocking yet, the average user it will be perfectly safe to use.
CBR thank you for taking alot of time to figure this out. I understand using alot of gas as I have done looking for laser speed traps back in the day and we look forward to seeing your video.

One thing my dad taught me was the K.I.S.S method. I think its cool if all these fancy features aid the driver but it does not matter if it does not work the way we thought or was told it would.

Thanks Again.

I think the owners manual caused half of the problems. It was probably written by the advertising department

I would like to focus on the 'speed' aspect of the testing.

Are we to assume that AutoLock doesn't know you are going faster than posted speed limit, but instead just looks to see if you are going 50 or faster?

Yes, The speed is the key here. I wasn't able to pin point the exact speed but at approximately 35-40mph and above auto unlock will be activated and unlock the signal if the location is passed at least ~4 times with no signal.

For AutoLock to work do you need to make all of those 4/5 passes at higher speeds (~50) or does just the 4th or 5th pass need to be at ~50? yes, its the total number of passes at the higher speed.

Is it fair to assume at this point that AutoLock does in-fact work correctly, and that because so many factors need to be taken into account while its making its calculations, that some have mistakenly assumed that it doesn't work?
yes, it works. But unfairly to the users perspective. They simply stated it would unlock a signal if it was no longer present and tectonically is doesn't do that, only at higher speeds.

Ya the manual sucks at the details, it unlocks but only under certain parameters. What they did was very smart but can still be an issue for frequently passed speed traps in areas with slower speed limits.

It's ironic how apparently they want people to speed and take a chance on getting a ticket to use their feature correctly

The way this feature works needs to be changed immediately!

People should be allowed to push two buttons to unlock locations. There is no excuse why Escort couldn't add this to the product so that the user could override settings.

I would think that the Escort Engineers would have figured this out from the beginning.

Slower speed Video (~35mph):

After AutoLock 14 passes without alert, sill locking out signal:

Faster speed Video's (~50mph):

Signal stored at 3rd pass:

Signal unlocked:

Odd one, sorry i cut off spinning icon after alerting. I have an itchy trigger finger. So spinning icon, alert than spinning icon again (that i cut off ).
