Thumbs down Escort Passport 9500i Radar Detector Laser function

I was wondering if anyone has the problem I am experiencing with my new 9500i. Each time I power it up in my garage, the laser warning comes on and will not go off until I back out and get GPS lock. If I then pull back into the garage I do not get the laser going off again.........

What could be causing this? I have covered my garage door beams, but that did nothing either.

Any help would be appreciated

TIA
Mike

What kind of vehicle do you drive....some of them are known to use the 904nm laser guided function to help with parking/cruise control of the vehicle....do you have the built in parking sensors on your vehicle?

My guess would be is that you drive an infiniti??

I had this with an old 8500, its just some random harmonics/electrical field that is making it go off. You can send it in to Escort to have them take a look but sometimes its hard to pinpoint what causing the laser falsing.

On thing I have noticed about the laser falsing is that it only does it until the GPS locates satellites......then I can go to the same exact spot and no problem. I have not locked it out either.......wierd

^ Very strange indeed!

The GPS functions should not have anything to do with the laser detection/alerting.....

I'll flag MEM-TEK and CJR on this one - maybe they can provide some hints?

My guess is its most likely coincidence that after it acquires GPS it stops. Unless you do some more testing like with GPS off we wont be sure.
I'm going to suggest trying to reset your 9500, this usually works and will reset back to factory settings. If it does not fix the problem you might need to send it in or do some testing.

First power off the 9500 using its power button.
Then hold down the "SEN" and "BRT" buttons and while holding down these two buttons, press the Power button to turn back on the 9500 power.
Then release all three buttons, and you should see "RESET" displayed on the screen followed by the 9500 firmware version.

Note: You cannot lock out KA or Laser.

OK, I'll try the reset, thank you. Not sure what your meaning on locking out laser, I just turned the laser band off and of course then it doesn't false at all.

Thanks
