Thumbs down Escort Passport 8500 X50 self Cal after after one day back.

Wow, I am in utter shock at the fact that I just sent my X50 back in a 2nd time to get fixed at BelEscort, and now Self Cal just came up on the display. Question: How many more times will I need to send my X50 back in to get fixed and not have Self Cal come back on the display?

For one, I didn't drop it. What I plan on doing now, is sending it back in for yet another checkup, and having the technician drive around w/ my X50 in his car for about a week to see how it works.

I own a rx 65 and got fed up with the whole self cal crap. That is what finally led me to whistler and their awesome customer service. One time I just hit a bump in the road and self cal came on.

Its possible to get a lemon in any brand, even the All Powerful V1, I have run 8500 and 8500 X50 for years with no problems and no tickets. The only one I ever had serviced was purchased off Ebay, I buy alot of them, Escort service was great. V1 owners will take any opportunity to slam ANY other detector. Had one once, its went to Ebay, got tired of all the false alerts.

Self cal & service required can be a double edge sword. On one hand it’s annoying and makes you feel like you RD is no good. On the other hand at least it’s telling you something’s wrong. Nothing worse than finding out your RD doesn’t work by getting a ticket.

I feel bad for V1 users, they won’t know the RD is not working properly till it’s too late. (I believe on new V1s they have added something to notify of severe issues)

Default well

Well, I am neither a V1, or BelEscort zombie. But Self Cal shouldn't be coming up on any display even after I was on the phone w/ the technician. Now I have to call him again and ask him if he will keep the unit for maybe a couple of weeks to make "sure" it's 100% better before getting it back.

I know I understand. I got so tired of it. I sent my detector back 4 times. Because self cal kept coming up. The fourth time I got it I drove around with it for about 3 months and then it came up again with self cal. I sent it back and when I finally got the unit. I put the unit away and went onto whistler. They need to come up with a detector that can auto correct the self cal problem.
