Default Escort Passport Radar 9500i laser save!!!

Had a wicked laser save with my 9500I the other day on my way home.
It was at night and on a back road with a slight bend in the road where he was sitting about 1/4mi away. I was day dreaming about where a LEO would be on this rout I was driving and bam LASER!!!!! I almost $#*t my pants, I slammed on the breaks and went from 40 to the posted 25mph speed limit. I never thought I would say this but My 9500I saved me from laser!!!

He looked at me as I passed and I gave him the finger and said beat you buddy!....
Luckily it was too dark for him to see me.

Now i got to get a jammer.

I have that weird feeling that you are an Escort salesman.
There is no save from laser without some type of a Jammer if you are a target at close range.

Salesman yes. 9500I advocate yes. Escort salesman no, I would never make enough $$$,$$$ doing that.

A save is a save, weather the LEO was having a good day, or a bird flew by and blocked the laser for a sec I have no idea. All I know is I didn’t get a ticket at 15mph over.
This is the 1st time getting hit with laser in this town so the LEO may not have experience with the laser gun yet. There was a bit of luck mixed in im sure, but it’s still a save because if my RD didn’t go off I wouldn’t have slowed down and maybe accelerated more.

Default Congrats!

Well I never had any laser encounters non threat or otherwise, but I am happy you had a save on yours. With most people thinking the V1 is very good on laser, and that includes myself, it is nice to hear one that isn't believed to be good on laser get a save!

Congrats man!

Remember that a false radar alert is one in which an RD alerts to radar when in reality there is no radar source. An alert that is triggered by a source other then by a LEO or officer is called a non-threat radar alert. Keep Learning!

Going 40 in a 25mph zone and you were hit with laser and didnt get a ticket? Something is amiss here in fairy tale land. If you can slow down from 40mph to 25mph in less then .3 secs I would believe that, sorry I dont believe this story.

You must not drive a car with 12.5" calipers with Brembo disc breaks. My breaking on my TL is pretty impressive.

I wouldn’t believe it ether if it didn’t happen to me, all things considered he should have got my speed and gave me a ticket.

^ My good buddy owns a TL.

The factory Brembos are one of the things I'm most jealous of his car about. It's not just that they're Brembos (sure, the name's nice) - it's rather that it's factory-tuned precisely for the vehicle, for best-overall performance in that specific application.

Brakes are an awfully tricky area when one doesn't have the development capital of an OEM-make to fund R&D. Even just switching to more aggressive aftermarket pads can adversely affect one's overall braking performance, when compared against the stock vehicle. When things like bigger rotors, different piston sizes, etc. are further added into the equation (i.e. an aftermarket "big-brake kit"), even more variables come into play, and the end-result isn't always favorable under all conditions.

This is why I so greatly envy my friend's TL.

Factory-tuned Brembos are nice, but some aftermarket items really make the package too.

^ +1.

The problem with the aftermarket items becomes that it's gotta be sorted out specifically for the vehicle in-question - and also, to an extent, for the end-user's main goals, too.

There are *so* many variables that need to be played with that it often becomes near-impossible for the average person seeking an upgrade to sort-out.

On LGT.com, a friend of mine worked out a painstaking chart that lists what the many different aftermarket braking setups will "translate" to in terms of brake-torque/bias/force. Even then, that still leaves the variable of differing pads, as well as not only how the factory ECU and ABS systems will work with the new setup, but also leaves bigger physical factors, such as tires - and even suspension setup - as "what ifs."

There's just sooooooo much to consider....

Luckily for me, all I wanted to do in terms of upgrading my brakes was to just visually fill the wheel-void left by upgrading to 18" rims. This made my selection quite easy, particularly as, at the time that I made the upgrade, there were only a few such kits available for my car that also managed to clear the factory 17" rims, without spacers. I made my choice simply based on streetability (i.e. that the pads were of good, general street-use operating temperatures, instead of more aggressive pads that require higher operating temperatures, which I'm unlikely to achieve given my daily commute) as well as longevity/durability (i.e. I didn't want a kit that needed a rebuild every 10K miles) - and an eye toward the "pretty." As long as I didn't compromise braking ability, I was plenty happy - since I don't need "track-capable" performance.

Yep, I'm brutally honest when it comes to my Rice!
