Default Escort Passport 8500 X50 gives double detection range when....

The escort X50 radar detector gives double the detection range of multanova speed cameras when the detector is mounted vertically according to this tester. Has anyone else tried this?

Ku band or Ka band? I believe that radar used her is wider and flatter, where multanova is higher and thinner. So, if you were to turn the multanova 90 degrees, the radar would travel like a normal radar beam would. This is my knowledge of multanova which could very possibly be wrong.
