Default Escort Passport 9500ci Remote

Passport announced their new 9500ci remote radar that includes their new ZR4 shifters. Selling for $2000 installed if they are even really available. Other than stealth install it looks like it can ignore a false if you drive by one 3x without slowing down.

ZR4s look a little smaller than ZR3s and are supposed to be better at LA detection. ZR4s alone look like they're selling for $600.

Highlighted for-emphasis.

I believe that these units are not slated to be released until second-quarter, 2008.

I want one, but without the shifters. Any idea what the price would be for the detector alone without the install? I was just about to get an STI-R as I drive in Canada quite often, but if this is immune to the Spectre and has the gps feature, along with all the selectable frequency defeats, it makes the STI-R look expensive when you compare. Any other thoughts or more info on this?

I used the Live Chat option on EscortRadar.com and asked that question.
"Dave" replied that for now they have no plans,to sell only 9500Ci w/o ZR-4.

$2000 seems a bit steep for a rd. Heck, I could buy a V1,STi, X50,995, and a Whistler Pro 78/XTR 690 for that. That price concerns me guys!

I agree on the price being a bit overboard. I am sure it will come down a bit eventually but the current pricing does not make much sense. I know they operate independantly but a Bel STI-R is $1,500 US ($1,100 if bought outside usa - WHY??) and this escort is $2,000 with some very desireable features. Also I do not need someone from Bust Buy taking my Audi apart, I much prefer to screw up things myself, so give me a price without install.

If one were considoring the STI-R at that price why not spend another 5 bills and get GPS and Shifting (assuming the 9500CI will be immune to the spectre)
It makes the STI-R look overpriced to be honest. Looks like I will be waiting
as I will not give up using my LPP or ALG8 for the ZR4s. If they sell ZR4s independantly, why not the detector independantly. Maybe I can split this with somone? Any one want a ZR4 for like a grand

Since I spend a lot of time driving in our neighbor's borders to the north Stealth Install, Spectre Immunity and Good Detection is a must. Give us customers what we want - Please

I hope one of us can test it soon. I will try and borrow/test one from my local distributor when they get them in.

I'm just glad that they (Escort) revoked their previous "professional installation only" demand on the remote-mounted units.
