Default Best Cobra Radar Detector

What Cobra RD has the best K & KA detection range? I know we all say they suck but there has got to be atleas1 that is semi ok.

Well, unfortunately, Cobras suck at picking up Ka 35.5 radar. So much so that when a Cobra alerts to 35.5 you could practically throw a rock at the patrol car and stand a fairly good chance of hitting it! That is just the way Cobra's are since they are banking on nearly all of your Ka encounters being on the most popular Ka 34.7 frequency.

If I rephrase your question as to what is/was the best Cobra ever? That would have to be their 1980s Trapshooter Pro II models. Those models were the same size as the original Escort and boasted X and K sensitivities of -117dBm and -115dBm respectively. No dual tone alert though -- which sucked. It was pretty much all downhill for Cobra since then.

Thumbs up yes

Yes, those old metal box style Cobra Trapshooters were the best Cobra to ever come out and only had x and k band detection.

I would say the XRS 9930. It's fair on x and k. It will provide you with a decent amount of slow down time. As far as ka. Depending on what their shooting it could be apply the break as soon as ka goes off and you might have a fighting chance or its to late you can see the cop and they already got your speed. Ka detection is extremely week if almost non existant on cobras. Cobra does not want to increase the base range line of their detectors and raise their rock bottom prices since their already making money hand over fist. Of course if they weren't making money you might find cobra trying to increase their ka range.

I would be afraid to admit that I have used one

I honestly think I used one before.... it was for a road trip to San Antonio from Houston... I didnt have a radar on me before....so I just went to walmart and bought one so I wouldnt be stuck without anyone... I guess a cobra is better then not having anyone at all.... just keep your bait of vehicles very close in front of you.... can help when coming over a hill I guess..... but man.... you got to love Walmarts return policy, no restocking fees for radar detectors

Cobra detectors are for people who don't speed and like to have a radar detector.

I just can't use Cobra at all, everytime I see Drivers having a Cobra in it, they are really brainwashed. I even seen elder drivers having one and they still drive slow with it. I guess they all like to be cool to have a RD and never get caught. Seriously, they all mounted so low it is in front of Metal Wipers. I'm guessing they're idiots or maybe because they think RD are illegal?

The other day, my friend was all bragging about his Cobra picking up DPS (IO Ka) and he got saved from it, I just don't believe him. I'm guessing they just left it on. He just wants his RD better than mine.

I'm glad I started out X50 as a teen so that I don't look like an idiot having a Cobra.
