Default Bel STi Price Increase

Anyone else notice the recent $50 jump in the Bel STi's price??

I was just perusing Bel's site and noticed the price is now $500. When did that happen??? Now the V1 actually looks like a good investment (except the stealth issue for some, of course). I wonder if that is a typo on Bel's site or for real. I presume the latter as it appears to be a picture and not some text (where someone could have typed the wrong digit).

STi Driver Radar Detector, Laser Detector - Beltronics USA

Forgive me if this is already posted. Since I cannot search on a 3 character word, I couldn't poke around easily to see if I'm creating a dupe post here.

I would not waste my money on the new Escort and Bel products since they are using untested gimicks's...kinda like cobra.

Now why would you say that!

They are pioneers in the industry and do more than enough testing, Its people that blindly except technology with out thinking that have problems with it. They are useful/fun features not gimmicks.

Why would I say that? Well maybe I have owned Passports in the past and even some X50's and they dont even touch the V1. Belscort just reminds me of Cobra marketing...like the *GPS Lock Out Feature*...well we all know that is a false sense of security because people have already recieved tickets thinking since the 9500i was quite because of the lock out and they speed anyways. Escort did not test it long enough and just wanted to throw more detectors in major retails stores. They are just too gimicky for my driving style.

Yes, agreed. The X50 is a joke. Spend another $50 - $100 and get a real detector.

IMHO, Cobra is flushing itself down the proverbial toilet. Aside from their CB radios (if they are even still any good), what product has Cobra released in the last 5 years that is worth its weight in pennies???

The 9500i lockout feature is seriously bad ju-ju for anyone who uses it. You are asking for a ticket from a smart LEO who knows peeps are doing that and will hide out next to the Wal-Mart door opener K-band blaster.

The problem with the 9500 is that it can't count. Come to think of it, I think the V1 is the only detector which can process simple math.

I'm saying the logic behind the false alarm blocking is faulty, hence I agree with The Stig's comments.

X50 is a joke. WTF, I had a mighty V1, sold it on Ebay, because I hated the Christmas tree lights in my truck, but I never bash them, because they are great RD's for some people.
The X50 is also one of the best, proven many times. Arrows, we don't need no stinking arrows. When the X50 speaks, you listen. You don't wonder is this one of the many falses I am used to, you slow down because you know its real.
My V1 had 4 lights in all directions, 7 or 8 bogeys. I'm expecting the damn swat team to come in on ropes. I wake up and I'm at a grocery store, nuff said,

Must be my glasses. I read the X50 is a joke, spend 50-100 dollars more and get a real detector.

The Christmas light story is real. LOL, I just like seeing V1 owners go nuts defending the Valentine. Its like they are the only ones that can bash ANY and EVERY other detector.
