Default Bel STI-R or wait for the Escort Passport 9500ci?

I have my tax refund coming soon and was looking for way to spend it. I am torn between ordering a STi R today or waiting on the 9500ci. He is what I am thinking.

I can get the Bel Now or wait a few months for the 9500ci, who know what will become of the money in the meantime if I wait.

First and foremost I want the best performer on Ka band (rumor has it the Escort will be more sensitive). I also want GPS and the lockout ability - Can I add a Cheetah mirror the
to STI R - I know its not exactly the same? The selectable band feature is also a very cool feature which I also want - I do not think this is available on the 9500ci? I also want a red display to match my car - All the escort pics I have seen so far are blue, but I am sure you can get the red.

The Zr4s are not much of a selling point to me and they would just sit in the box and I would prefer not to spend money on something I'll never use. Also I am lazy and would probly not put in any effort sell them .

For the price and the user selectable ka segment defeats, I am leaning toward the STI with an added Cheetah Mirror. However I would easily be convinced if the escort were to provide noticely better performance.

Any thoughts?

Wait!!! The new ci is going to have equal to better sensitivity than the V1 on K & KA. Plus I also herd from the same reliable source that jamming is going to be pretty good as well.

Yes - I have heard the same thing - Was also told that the STI r was not really too far behind the 9500ci on KA band. I really want the selectable frequency defeat option. Any Idea if the Escort will add the selectable frequency defeat. I do not plan on using the shifters and I really do not need more jammers anyway.

I was planning on having a regular STI (or sometimes a V1 depending where I am, but my STI beats my V1 on 34.7) working with a GPS mirror. For the remote detector I wanted to have only Ka 34.7 enabled. I have been offered a pretty good price on the Bel Sti R - substialtially less than the list on the
9500ci - but the offer goes away very quickly. I can buy Dual LPP and the remote STI for about the same as a 9500ci is currently listed for.

Bottom line is how much better is the 9500ci compared to the STI-R on KA? Or can you get the 9500ci with out the shifters for the cost to be more acceptable?

If you can get a good price on the STI-R and your primary goal is to lock out all bands but 34.7 than get the STI-R, the 9500ci is not that much better in KA sensativity. The problem you will have is no GPS lock out with STI-R.

Why would you only want KA 34.7 to work? you never ever leave your town and have a tone of KA falses?

If you could get over the selectable frequency defeat option the 9500ci would be perfect.

I did see on a website that the 9500ci has "2) Can be programmed for desired Ka radar frequency used anywhere around the world" what that means I don’t know.

The vast majority of the radar threats I encounter is Stalker derived. On the highways in NYS Rarely do I see anything else besides them and the ultralytes. The troopers know how to use I/O very well.

I am hoping for no cobra falses as I get 5-10 a day on my commute - Even more with POP on. Also hoping to get better warnings on the I/O from the troopers. Some of them will sit for a few minutes before the hit the remote, just waiting for the next customer.

Just looking for the best detection on stalker without those cobra falses.

And I agree - If the 9500CI has the feature It would be perfect (for me anyway).

The ci may filter out the cobra falses to begin with. What RD is getting all the cobra falses?

STi gets falses on some cobras. I sit in traffic with what seem like 10,000 other cars at times. Lots of cobras around and I can usually spot them when I get a false from them. It is much much worse with POP enabled.
