Default New m4 antenna design...Opinions?

I would also like to hear any experiences and/ or opinions on Beltronics new m4 antenna design. Does it measure up?

The M4 horn is in quite a few Bell & Escort RD's, the RX64, 8500X50 & 9500I all use the M4 horn. I think it was made to be less expensive but also be flexible enough to match up with different quality RD's.

From what I have seen so far the m4 horn has a lack of peripheral vision. It is virtually blind to the sides. Straight on it appears to be as good as the s7 but the around the curve performance is just not up to par IMHO.

I hope Bel brings back the old s7 horn and quits saving a buck. Again my opinion.

I feel the M4 design was made to be more versatile and reduce falses but keep sensitivity towards real threats. The M4 may be cheaper to make but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a lesser horn than the S7.
I think the M4 on the 9500I uses a diffrent type of receaver and there are many to choos from depending on the aplication. A better horn that is more versital and can be used for many diffrent aplications will cost less because more are purchased.

See my description of the 9500I’s sensitivity & filtering system:

With RIP's excellent info on the m4's filtering capability, I retract the above statement. It was based on my lack of understanding of the new design.
